Nev's back!!
A/N: Heya. Sorry I skipped last week (and the week before that oops.) I think I'm gonna do that from now on—skip a week. To be honest, I'm not really feeling this book anymore. I have a few chapters pre-written for another book, but I don't think I'm ready to publish it yet. Anyway, please vote.

-Time Skip-
Ellie met Nev's eyes in the airport crowd and smiled. This was the first time they'd seen each other in months. "Hey!" Ellie exclaimed into his shoulder. "I missed you!" Nev's greeting was muffled as he leaned in to return the hug. "Elle, FaceTime doesn't do a justice—you look great! How was the surgery?"
She grinned at his compliment. "I know, right? You look so much better when you're not stuck in a screen." He laughed and motioned to a bench off to the side, out of the crowd. "And the surgery?" Nev continued after they sat down. "It was alright... definitely an adventure."
Max groaned from a few feet away, interrupting his own phone call. He pressed the speaker of his phone to his chest. "That's your idea of an adventure?" He looked at Ellie disapprovingly and put the phone back to his ear, continuing his call.
"He's got his underwear in a knot about the whole thing." Ellie rolled her eyes. "Don't mind him." Nev chuckled and let out a sigh. "So... on to more important things..." Ellie gestured with her hand to tell him to continue. "Are you guys... you know." Ellie's eyes widened and her cheeks turned red. "No way! Stop!" she wined, punching him playfully in the shoulder. Nev's voice dropped to a whisper. "Nice ring."
Her eyes darted over to Max. Good thing he was still preoccupied with his phone call. "Shut up! Don't say shit like that," she whispered to Nev, jabbing her finger to his chest. He put his hands up, gesturing his apology. "Jeez, sorry. Over-sensitive much?" Ellie flashed him a death glare. "Do you have the tickets," she asked, trying to get her mind off of his question. "Yep. Ready for Louisiana?"
But the truth was, Ellie wondered what her and Max's 'title' was all the time. She'd never brought it up to Max though. "Not the right time," she thought. "Not yet, anyway."

Ellie and Nev scored seats next to each other, but Max wasn't that lucky. He slouched beside a woman and her baby... poor Max. Nev turned in his seat to face Ellie. "Ten dollars Max complains about that baby the entire drive to the hotel. Ellie bit her lip to hide her amusement. "Twenty," she said, looking up from her phone.

"Guys, I swear... that child wanted me to suffer," max grumbled from the back seat of the rental car. When they stopped at a red light, Nev looked to Ellie and put his hand out in front of him, palm up. "Pay up, ma'am." Max heard Ellie mutter something under her breath and pass two ten-dollar bills over to him. "Can't you keep your complaining to yourself?" she asked Max jokingly. He moved his eyes from Ellie to Nev, and back again.
"Did you guys... bet on me?" Ellie rolled her eyes and Nev grinned. "Yep, and now I'm twenty dollars richer!" Ellie raised an eyebrow. "Is 'richer' even a word?" Max and Nev shrugged in unison.
"Can we get food?"
"Max, does it look like we can get food right now?"
