Nev- You up? It's a long ride to the airport. You can sleep in the car😂
Nev- Hey! C'mon Ellie.
Max- Come on Ellie. Get up.
Max- Seriously. You're gonna make us miss the flight.
Max- I'll be over in 5 to wake your lazy ass up🙄
Max pulled into Ellie's driveway and got out of the car. The sun was just starting to come up above the roofs surrounding her house. Max walked up the steps to Ellie's front door. "Shit," he muttered. "The door's locked." He walked around to the side of the house and opened a small gate that led to Ellie's back yard. Max frowned as he reached the sliding glass doors. Still no lights on inside. Max grabbed the handle and pulled. "Yes!" He whispered aloud.
He had never been inside Ellie's house before. He looked around and found a large living room. Walking over, he turned on two lamps sitting on matching side tables. "Ok," he thought. "Where's her bedroom. That door's closed, so I'll try that one."
As he walked inside, he noticed a small candle burning on a desk that filled the room with a vanilla scent. He focused his attention to a small lump under the covers of a king sized bed. Max made his way over to the bed and pulled the heavy blankets down slightly. "She looks kinda cute like this," he thought. "I sound like a creep." Max shook his head at these new feelings. He ran his fingers through this silver-gray hair and sat on the edge of the bed. "Ellie, wake up," he called softly. "Wake up. We're gonna miss the flight."
Ellie stirred and grabbed his hand. "Stop," she muttered, her words barely audible. Max continued. "Ellie, let's go. Nev and I are leaving, whether you're with us, or not," he said, louder this time. Ellie turned over, now facing Max. He reached down and cleared the blond hair away from her face. "Did she just smile? That was cute." Max shook her arm. "Fine. I see how it is."
Max lowered the heavy blanket and sat Ellie up straight against the headboard. "Let's go." Ellie's eyes flickered open. "What the hell?" She muttered, clearly annoyed. "You're gonna make us miss the flight!" Max exclaimed, frustrated. Ellie's eyes shot open. "THE FLIGHT!"

"We're gonna be gone a full month. Are you sure one bag is enough?" Max asked, studying her suitcase. "Yeah. The more bags you bring, the more expensive it is. And you won't let me pay." Max rolled his eyes. "We're not negotiating. We're paying, and that's it." Ellie made a face, and Max laughed. "That's a good look for you," he said, raising his eyebrows and chuckling.Ellie reached down to grab her suitcase, but Max managed to grab it before her. "I got it," he said, smiling. Ellie blushed, and looked away. "Thanks." As they reached the front door, Ellie stopped. "Oh, shit! My purse," she said. Ellie looked over at Max. "Hold on." She put up a finger, signaling for him to wait a minute. Ellie returned a few seconds later with a bag over her shoulder. "Ready?" She asked. "Oh, I've been ready. The question is... are you ready?"

"Hey Nev, it's me. I finally got Ellie up, and we're in our way to the airport now. So, we'll see you there. Uh, just give me a call when you get this. Bye."
Ellie looked down at her lap. "I'm really sorry. I messed everything up, didn't I?" Ellie asked. Max shot a quick glance at her before returning his focus to the road. "No, you didn't. We're not even gonna be late... at all, Ellie. Everything is fine," he reassured. "I don't know, I just feel like I fucked everything up for you guys. Like I'm just making things harder."Max stopped the car at a red light. "Look at me," he said, turning his body to face her. "You're not making anything harder. We want you here!" Ellie could feel her face turning red, and Max grabbed her shoulders to comfort her, smiling at her awkward blush. She bit her lip as the distance between them got smaller. Max closed his eyes and- BEEP!
Ellie and Max jolted back into their seats. Max sped up to close the gap between traffic. "What was that?" Ellie thought. Why did I want that?" Max ran a hand roughly through his hair. "Almost," he thought. "Almost."
