Landons POV;
The car ride was silent but still comforting, I caught a few glances she sent my way. I couldn't help but smirk every time I caught her, because she would turn her beautiful face away like she was embarrassed, but little did she know I was looking at her more than she was looking at me.
We pulled up to my cozy 2 story house. My dad had wondered why I didn't get a bigger house, I just said I didn't need that many rooms with just myself, but the truth was I didn't want to be reminded of my loneliness with a bigger house.
"Here I'll grab your bags" I said picking up her suitcase.
"Thanks" she replied tiredly.
"I know you're probably jet-lagged, you can go upstairs to the left, that's the guest bedroom"
"Thank-you-so-much" she managed to get out between yawns. I chuckled as I walked behind her with her bags. As she walked in the room she jumped on the bed like a little excited kid.
"OHHHHHHH" she moaned out as if she hadn't felt a bed in days.
"I'll uh.. leave you two alone" I joked as I walked out, I could hear her adorable laugh down the hall.
I can't believe Brooke is in my house right now. The girl who hasn't been off my mind since 11 years ago. She probably has a boyfriend anyway, probably wouldn't be interested in me, I guess I can take these few days to find out if I even have a chance. I laughed to myself realizing I had been planning this all in my head, as if life just goes the way we picture it. I cracked open a beer, and started reading through the files, none of them seemed to peek my interest, I still have a whole stack left, but I'll worry about it in the morning.- - - - - The Next Morning- - - - -
I decided to wake up pretty early so I could cook Brooke a nice breakfast. Show her some of my boyfriend material skills. I cooked eggs, bacon, grits, and chocolate chip pancakes, those are her favorite. Just as I'm finishing up I hear a couple of foot steps creeping down the stairs.
"Is that chocolate chip pancakes that I smell" she came around the corner practically drooling. She still looked amazing with her hair in her face and that glazed over tired morning look.
"Yes, I know, your favorite" I rolled my eyes knowing she was about to tell me for the 100th time in our lives.
"Thankyousomuch" she spit out with a full mouth.
"Ew, hasn't your mother ever taught you to chew with your mouth closed" I joked
"No, but she taught me how to turn off the stove when I'm done cooking"
I looked behind me to see the left over grease in the pan smoking, almost causing a fire. I picked up the pan and threw it in the sink, pouring cold water on it, while Brooke just sat there and laughed until she cried.
"Oh my gosh, the look on your face was priceless" she said, still laughing.
"Oh my gosh the look on your face blah blah" I mocked her with a ugly face.
"Awe, is someone getting angry" she mocked back.
I slammed my foot and stomped away like a child jokingly. She just continued to laugh and eat.
"Hey my interviews not until tomorrow, what are you trying to do today" she asked.
"Well I have a bunch of files to look over today, but if you want to do something just let me know"
"Files?" She asked.
"Yes. Files. Some of us actually have really important jobs and since I'm the new CEO I need an assistant ASAP." I replied
"Wait a minute... you're telling me you're a CEO now.. and you are looking through files for a personal assistant.. damn.." she looked like she was putting a puzzle together in her head, while I still had a puzzled look on my face not understanding why she was saying this that way.
"What? What's wrong with that? You jealous that I'll be getting a personal assistant" I tried to joke.
"I applied for that position.. you wouldn't happen to be the CEO of Abraham Supply Co? Would you?" She said disappointedly. Little did she know I was exploding with excitement. Having Brooke be my assistant would be perfect. She would be forced to be around me 24/7 she would have to fall in love with me.
"Oh.. well then why the hell am I looking through files when I found my new assistant already!" I said excitedly.
"Are you serious? I don't know if you would want that because you know, we know each other... and you know—"
"Brooke you got the job." I cut her off.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHH, omg I have to call mom and dad and tell them I'm moving!!!" She jumped up and down with the happiest smile I've ever seen.
'God she looks beautiful' I thought to myself.
Look at her smile, and how it reaches her eyes, look at her hair naturally wavy, look at HER. Man oh man, I can't wait to start work.
