Chapter 3

"A Hero's Return"

We walked to the small Pokemon Center (small compared to Castelia City), and inside me and Travis healed our Pokemon. When they were done I let Emolga out of her Pokéball. She shook out the stiffness and ran up to my shoulder. She gave a smile and a small, "Emo!" and I flashed a smile right back.

Sophia had found a booth for us to sit in. We sat and ordered some food. Then we started talking.

"So tell us about yourself Sophia," Travis said.

"There's not much to tell. My grandmother and I recently moved to Nuvema Town. We've only lived here a couple months, but enough to find out what's been going on around Unova," she explained.

"Oh yeah. Team Plasma has been causing some trouble," I said.

"I wonder if that trainer has disbanded Team Plasma, or at least scared them off," Travis said taking a sip of water Nurse Joy's Audino brought us.

"Anyway. We moved from Kanto. Team Rocket just seemed to be getting into bigger crimes. Officer Jennys were everywhere we went. They stole my grandmother's Venusaur and Pidgeot. They kept saying they would return them if we gave them what they wanted. We eventually got scared enough into leaving the region. We couldn't keep doing what we were doing. We moved here to Unova, turns out it's no better," she said with a sigh.

"Well, now you've got a Pokemon to protect you guys!" I said smiling.

"Speaking of which, what Pokemon did you choose?" Travis asked.

"I'm glad you asked! Come on out!" Sophia said. She stood up and tossed a Pokéball.

When the Pokemon materialized, I immediately thought of an Ekans. Except this Pokemon was short. It's back and top of its head was green with a yellow stripe down the middle. At the end of its tail was a large leaf. Tan started from its nose, extended down to its belly, and ended near the leaf on its tail. It had yellow around its eyes and yellow...things that reminded me of a pulled-up collar on a dress shirt. Sophia had chosen a Snivy!

The Grass Snake Pokemon gave off a short cry and climbed up onto onto the seat, then the table. She smiled at us and extended a vine out to Emolga.

"Emo?" she said, fascinated by the vine. Travis let out Tepig and Snivy extended a vine out to him as well.

"She's nicknamed Cyxia!" Sophia said.

"That's a cool name!" Travis said.

"Can you guess where I got the name? I'll give you a hint. It involves science," she challenged.

"This'll be Devin's area of expertise," Travis turned to me.

"Hm, well, the first part, Cyx, could go to the scientific name for tailbone, coccyx, since most of Snivy's and it's evolutionary chain has attacks that comes from it tail. Leaf Blade for example. The ia at the end could just be there to make the name sound pretty," I explained.

Sophia looked at me, shocked. "That's exactly right. How did you know that?"

"He's a whiz at a lot of things science, and just trying to make sense of things," Travis answered.

Suddenly, the doors to the Pokemon Center opened, and every single trainer in the building looked at the entrance, including us. In entered a trainer wearing a blue jacket, black pants, red shoes with some black on them. His hat was red in the front and white in the back. The bill on it was black as was the Pokéball symbol on the front of the hat. He quietly walked up the counter and healed his Pokemon.
