Chapter 21
Arnav clutched his chest on his hands, khushi fell on her knees in front of him, wailing, crying for help. But nobody came to help. Unless king Jai says it's over it won't be over. Khushi touched his arms, trying to make him stable and help him somehow. All the guest, spectators looked shell shocked, women in crowd cried with khushi unable to hold their tears, how would a women feel hurting her own husband, it's the extreme kind of torture.
“look how valiant, Prince arnav is, he let his wife attack, took pain on himself in stride to save her.” one women said to the other. Almost same thought runaround among almost all but the spectators.
Arnav looked at his father, sitting on his royal chair on the balcony with a smug smirk on his face. How a father can be so cruel, he will never understand this. He took a deep breath, trying to control the pain. He saw soldier rawat making his way towards his father with a folder in his hand, arnav smirked.
Just few minute more and everything will turn in his favor. He felt khushi hand trying to tighten , a piece from her clothes that was ripped to make a temporary bandage, around her chest. He took her crying face in his hands, wiped her tears, giving her small smile and winking. She cried more putting her head on his uninjured shoulder.
“why you did you not defend yourself. You should have used your shield. I know you did that purposefully, why you did that” khushi questioned still crying like hell.arnav tried to calm her down.
“i needed to end this sooner, this was the only way.” arnav said stroking her hairs lovingly.
“don't worry it will be over soon” he said again looking up towards his father whose face has turned all pale, looking at the file presented to him by rawat, arnav smirked.
‘I hold so many secrets of yours father and each one more danger than other to destroy you badly. Don't force me to disclose them all’ arnav thought.
He was now just waiting for his father, to declare this game over now. He saw his father turn uneasily on his seat.
First warning bell rang in the arena, indicating to restart the fight, before arnav and khushi are punished for not following the rules.
He saw his father eyes turn dark like coal as he looked at arnav, looking with similar eyes back at him. They have so many similarities both physically and mentally. Both always thinking ahead, both always standing firm on their resolution except that he was not deceiving like his father.
Arnav hoped to resolve this fight shattered the moment his father, commanded to blow the second warning bell before he declared them to be hanged. His father is walking on such sharp edge, he thinks arnav is bluffing that he won't go against or he thinks he will be dead long before he can do anything.
Arnav felt so angry, he clutched his fingers in fist, as his father again commanded to fight. Before arnav can motion his friend and soldier Rawat to show his father he isn't bluffing, he felt khushi scream a Big No. He turned to look at her, who now, stood in all her angry glory. She looked like goddess durga herself.
“No! I won't fight. This is inhuman and barbaric,to play with human lives like this to play tribute to late King. Game should be played with fair rules and no casualties . Human lives are not so cheap.” she yelled to get her point across to everyone.
“i like to question you Mr Edward, what will her highness the queen will think on knowing how her subjects are made to lose their lives in some stupid games. Do you want such kings to be part of the parliament, who instead of using money for better development of British crown, is busy shedding important lives.” she questioned, her face fierce, meeting every gaze with her confident ones.
“how could we accept to make a king who spill his own people’s blood, in the parliament. How could you and British government trust someone who is playing with own son’s life just because of game.” khushi hit, king Jai with her words. All the British guest started murmuring among themselves, about how wrong it is, to conduct such games.
Arnav smirked looking at Khushi and her intelligence. They both knew, his father has invited important, members of parliament and he would never mess with them here. Arnav singled rawat to bring his plan in action, he saw rawat talking to senior most member of parliament and presenting him the file which was earlier was show to arnav’s father.
Arnav saw his father turn pale, seeing everything getting destroyed in front of him. He now understand arnav was not bluffing. Even the crowd was started shouting to stop the fight. King Jai gave in to pressure and threat.
“OK! I think it's time we make some changes in rule and as the king only I have right to do that. I from now on make amendment, that near death is not compulsory for winning. Winners will be announced without blood shedding. I announce Princess khushi the winner and it begins the fair and true beginnings of late King Randhir Singh games.” King Jai said, left the next moment for all other games to begin. He felt anger raise in his body, he has lost, but he won't lose so easily. Arnav is taking him to lightly.
