Brads P.O.V
Jess had now dragged me in to sit in the lounge with my parents. My parents and Nat were on the three seat settee and I was now sat with Jess on the single seater, Jess on my lap. We were all currently talking but deep down I was praying that they don't mention the pregnancy scare.
"So how did you two meet then?" My mum asks.
"It was weird, I met her at some country club in Devon, then I saw her again whilst me and the boys were busking. Then we actually spoke properly." I chuckle.
"So you live in Devon then Jess?" My dad asks politely.
"Yeah, I live with my parents and older brother." Jess replies with a smile.
"Devon is a long way away." My dad replies, seriousness present in his tone. I see Jess' smile drop.
"Do you mind if I, I uh, use the bathroom please?" Jess stutters.
"Of course sweetheart, up the stairs and the door on the second left." My mum replies smiling sweetly. Jess then proceeds to stand up and walk upstairs, closing the living room door behind her. As soon as we hear the bathroom door close my dad speaks up.
"Brad son, what were you thinking? The distance is far too much. You're both just going to end up hurt!" He bellows.
"I love her dad, I really do." I reply calmly.
"You really trust her?" My dad spits. I clench my fists.
"I trust her more than anyone." I spit back.
"She's not good for you. She's a waste of time and space. You need to concentrate on your career son. She'll mess you around!" My dad replies a little too harshly.
"Your father is right Bradley." My mum speaks.
"I agree with mum and dad on this one." Nat also speaks.
Jess' P.O.V
After speaking with Brad's family his dad brought up the distance factor. It made me realise. How would this work? Of course I love Brad. More than anything and anyone.
I stand leaning over the sink. I look up to be faced with a mirror. The tears start to fall. I'm ugly, why would Brad love me? I'm worthless. I'm a nobody. I thought these thoughts had gone when I was fourteen; but I guess they've returned. I walk out of the bathroom and as I approach I hear shouting coming from the living room. I pause in my tracks.
"She's not good for you. She's a waste of time and space. You need to concentrate on your career son. She'll mess you around!" I hear Brad's dad shout.
The voices of the shouting begin to blur as the tears fall. The words echo through my mind. "Waste of time and space." Maybe he was right?
As the voices replay in my mind I hear Brads mum and sister agree.
I know when I'm not wanted.
I quietly tiptoe down the stairs. When I reach the bottom. I leave everything behind; sprinting for the door. Accidentally slamming the front door as I run where ever my feet will take me. As I run I hear Brad shouting my name.
Brads P.O.V
I sit with my head in my hands. How could they possibly think that?
We all jump as we hear the front door slam. I instantly run towards the door. As I look to my right I see nothing but an empty street. I then look to my left and see Jess running down the street. "JESS, NO COME BACK!" I scream as I attempt to chase after her.
She's already too far away.
I turn back to see my parents and Nat stood in shock.
"DONT JUST STAND THERE, DO SOMETHING!" I scream.
"I'll get the car keys." Nat says as she rushes back into the house. Reappearing seconds later with the keys in her right hand.
As we get into the car my parents go to follow. "Don't you think you've done enough?" I spit. They take a step back. Nat proceeds to drive.
I hope Jess is okay.
Jess' P.O.V
After sprinting down many empty lanes and through multiple fields I find myself standing on the edge of a bridge that stands over one of Birmingham's quietest canals.
The words still repeating through my mind.
Just one step and it could all be over. No longer worthless or a waste of time. I'll be gone. The tears keep falling. Fears of the unknown tempt me even more.
My thoughts are interrupted as a hand is placed on my hips pulling me backwards, gently, away from the edge of the bridge. I turn to see the one person that I never wanted to see me in this state.
Brad.
It was Brad.
"Get off! Your dad is right!" I scream trying to escape from Brads embrace.
"No Jess, can't you see! He was wrong! So wrong!" He replies.
"Listen to your family. I heard it all. I understand." I speak.
"I love you." He speaks as he tried not to choke on his tears.
"I love you too but please, listen to your parents." I reply.
"No, never! They're wrong!" He shouts.
"LET ME GO!" I scream.
As I finally exit Brads embrace he attempts to grab my hand but I let go. That's when I realise I took a step to far. I scream Brads name as he screams mine.
With that...I fell.
I'm faced with darkness as I hit the canals waters.
