Brads P.O.V
"JESS!" I scream as I lose her touch.
I instantly run to the edge of the bridge. Everything seemed to go in slow motion. I quickly looked to my left to see Nat stood still, clearly in shock.
"DO SOMETHING THEN!" I lash out.
She just stands there.
I sprint as fast as my legs can go. As I approach the canal edge I empty my pockets and I jump in the side. Swimming as fast as I can to try and find Jess. The tears on a continuos flow. I put my head under the water, I can see a something blurred in front of me. I reach out and pull it up. Then that's when I realise...
It's Jess.
"NAT IVE FOUND HER!" I scream.
"An ambulance is on the way!" She shouts back.
I swim as quick as I can back to the grass beside the canal. I gently place Jess down on her back. I check her pulse but there's nothing. I instantly place my lips onto Jess' cold soft lips, gently breathing air into her lungs. Still nothing.
Before I know it I hear the sirens approaching. Before I know it I'm dragged away from my girlfriend. Clueless as to whether she's alive or not.
Nat has to hold me back. But eventually I'm let into the ambulance as Jess is rushed to the nearby hospital.
I hold her hand as I whisper. "I'll never let you go again. I promise."
Within a few minutes we arrive at the hospital. As I go to follow the bed Jess is on into the resuscitation unit I'm stopped. As I turn around I see Nat and my parents stood in front of me.
"THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT" I scream as the tears continue to fall. My finger pointing directly at my dad.
My dad looks down at the floor as the reality of what he's caused sinks in.
"I'm sorry." He replies with a sigh.
"SORRY, IS THAT IT? SORRY?" I spit.
"Mr Simpson please take a seat and calm down or I'll be forced to call security." A nurse speaks calmly, leading me to a nearby seat.
I kick the seat and then sit down. Head in my hands I break down. A nurse sits down in the chair next to me.
"When can I see her?" I ask as I look up, still crying.
"She's in a critical condition, but I'll go and speak to the doctor for you now." She replies with a small smile.
After around ten minutes the nurse came back. Her expression blank, difficult to read. Has something happened?
"Jess' condition is critical. She's lucky to be alive. She's currently in a coma but you can see her now if you like." The nurse states.
"I-I- thank you." I stutter as I stand up, the nurse leads me to the room where Jess is situated.
The nurse exits the room as I enter. Jess laying there peacefully. Not a bruise in sight. Her hair still soaked from the canals waters. Tubes left, right and centre. It pains me to see her like this. I quietly pull a seat up next to the bed and grabbed hold of her hand gently.
"I'm so so so sorry baby." I sob into the side of the bed.
"I promise I'll never leave you. I'll be right here when you wake up...please wake up." I continue to sob uncontrollably.
~
3 days and 13 hours later and I'm still sat here. Holding her hand. She's still peacefully asleep. Only the sound of the clock ticking filling the room.
