I've been planning a surprise for Star's birthday, but I don't really know what to do. Her birthday is tomorrow which is the twenty-fifth of July. I keep trying to think of ideas, but my mind is always in a daze. What would my girlfriend want for her birthday? I kept thinking and unfortunately it feels like a lost cause. I know that even if I came up with something that I only put half of my effort into, she would love it. I don't want that though, I want her birthday to be just perfect.

I decided to stop thinking about it for the time being and see what the princess was up to. I went upstairs and I lightly knocked on her door, waiting for a reply.
"Come in." She said softly. I walked in to see her laying on the bed. She was on her phone, watching some video.
"Hey." She says sweetly as she lazily turns to look at me with a soft smile on her face.
"Hey." I say awkwardly. I don't know why, but I felt awkward and the tension and the atmosphere around us seemed off. I knew what was causing it, the fact that I haven't come up with an idea for her birthday yet. The thought of it made me feel weird, but I tried my best to push the thought away.

"What are you up to?!" I asked, scratching the back of my head.
"I'm just watching some vids on youtube, just the usual." She says in her usual silly voice. She sits up and scoots closer to my side.
"Marco are you okay? You seem kinda off, what's bugging you?" She looked at me worriedly and I swear I wanted to die at that moment.

This sly princess just knows me too well.

"Yeah, I'm fine."
"Are you sure? Because you don't seem like it." I looked into her eyes, it was like if her eyes were trying to pierce into my soul. The worst part about it was the fact that she wasn't looking at me in a bad way, it was a look of sincerity and worry. Her big blue beautiful eyes were making me feel guilty.

"Y-yeah." I sighed to myself in relief, but I knew that she could tell something was off. I don't wanna act weird, but I wanted to have things ready for tomorrow. Maybe I can ask her hypothetically? I'm going for it.
"Star?"
"Yeah?" She looked up at me again.
"So hypothetically speaking.." I said nervously. I don't know why I'm so nervous. She just stared at me for the few moments that I had grew quiet for.

"What would you want for your birthday?"
"There's nothing I really want."
"What? Why not?"
"Because I have everything I could ever want." She smiled at me brightly. I feel like every time I see her smile, I just happen to fall for her even more, if that even makes any sense.
"Are you for real?"
"Yeah Marco, I have great friends here, I have you, we always go on really cool adventures, and your parents are so nice to me. What else could I ask for?" She looked at me with such a happy look on her face.
"So there's nothing at all?" I asked.
"Yep, nothing at all."
"You suck." I laid back on the bed, looking at the ceiling.
"What? You're mad that I don't want anything for my birthday?" She laughed.
"I'm not mad. I'm just surprised."
"Why?" She giggled.
"You always want something." I gave her an irritated look.
"Okay fine. Maybe back then I did want a lot of things, but I thought about it and you've given me so much and so have my friends. I just don't want anything."
"You're so complicated." I shook my head. I can't believe this girl.
"You love me." She sang in my ear before kissing my cheek. I hate it when she's right.
"Well I'm gonna take a shower." I got up and headed towards the door, before I left the room Star called for me.

"Hey dummy you're forgetting something." There she goes with that beautiful smile. I smiled back as I walked towards her, pressing my lips against hers. I left the room with butterflies in my stomach. I turned around to look at her one last time before I left and she still had that smile on her face. I left with a smile I couldn't hide from anyone.

Later that day I left the house without Star to find some kind of gift for her. I know she said that she didn't want anything, but I knew I had to give her something. Once I made my way to downtown L.A. I thought about what I wanted to get her for tomorrow. I want her gift to be something she can always keep. I was looking around for a little but nothing seems to spark my interest. After almost losing hope, I came across this very colorful store. The store must be brand new because I've never seen it before, and I'm pretty sure I've been to almost every store in the city by now.
