Augusta's pov:

I've been with Derrick for a week now. I am, in fact, not his second chance mate.

He's losing himself without his true mate. Aden told me she was dead and Derrick never met her but that wouldn't explain why he was acting like this. He is forcing himself to think I an his second chance mate to cope with the pain. To try and get over her. But he can't and it's killing him.

He's very happy that I'm back. I'm the only thing keeping him here. He was going mad. I'm here to comfort him, help him. I was trying to help as much as I could but it didn't seem like it was enough.

Jason told me he was way worse before I was brought back. Even before I joined the pack. He used to have mental breakdowns.

Derrick was such a strong person I couldn't see him falling apart like that. Until now, until I saw it happening.

No one would tell me anything about there relationship. So I couldn't help as much as I wanted to.

Derrick and I were running a patrol with Jena and Susan, a pack member. Running helped him. Everyone told me I was helping him most, but other small things also helped.

Being the Beta of the pack made it harder on him. He has more responsibilities than most of us, except for Aden and Ashely.

By the time patrols were done and everyone showered, then ate it was 9:30.

"Do you want to watch a movie?" I asked Derrick.

Knowing he didn't like to sleep so much, he dreamed of her. Which hurt him.

"Yeah, sure." He smiled.

He put on a great attitude. He really was trying to make the most of everything. Little did he know. I heard him talking in his sleep, and saw the pain he was hiding from everyone.

"What do want to watch?" He asked.

"I get to pick tonight!" I said excited.

"Yes, now go get some movies before I do." He said.

We have been watching Borne, Die Hard and The Riddick movies for the past week. I loved them all, but it was time for different movies.

I picked out all three Lord of the Rings movies, that should be good for tonight.

"Do you want popcorn?" I asked.

"That sounds great." He said.

I put the the fellowship of the ring in the DVD player before going to get the popcorn.

"How is he?" Jason asked.

"He was ok today." I said.

"Until you leave him alone." He reminded me.

"The movies on, he will be ok for a minute." I said.

"He's loosing himself." Jason sighed.

"Then why don't we do anything," I said. "He's wasting away, your own Beta and you won't do anything."

"It's not that easy. We can't just go get her, they-"

"What?" I interrupted.

"I said, it's-

"No you said she's dead! That they never met and she's gone forever." I said.

He looked guilty.
