Six Weeks

Once I left my brother, my mind was racing. I needed to make dinner reservations as soon as possible. I couldn't keep this secret from him for too long and I knew that he would become suspicious sooner or later.

"Giovanni has asked me to take you home." Samuel told me

"What? Why?"

He was silent and when I asked him what was going on, he didn't respond. I was given the silent treatment for the entire four hour drive so when we pulled in front of the house, I let my self out.

Giovanni's car was present and I slowly made my way through the house. He was in the large dining room, waiting patiently for me. He sat at the far end of the table with his hands together. Any other time I wouldn't have thought anything of it, except this time, he had a gun on the table.

"Um...what are you doing here?" I asked him

"What's going on?" he ignored my question

"What are you talking about?" I asked him

"I know you were lying this morning about seeing your brother."

"I did go to see my brother."

"It wasn't your first stop."

"I can't run errands?" I challenged

"When I left, I heard you on the phone, saying you were going to meet someone. Then you try to get your guards to not report to me."

"What do you think is going on, Giovanni?" I asked him

"You don't want me to tell you what I think is going on. This is why I'm asking you."

"So, you're going to shoot me if I don't?"

"Just tell me his name."

"Who's name?"

"The man you're obviously sneaking around with."

I laughed.

"We just got back from our honeymoon and you think I'm cheating, already?"

"Drew." He warned

He said my name so calmly, it was almost scary. I slowly walked over and sat down next to him.

"I do have something to tell you." I told him

His breathing slowed down.

"I wanted to say something earlier, but I didn't want to get you...excited."

"Excited?"

"Mhmm hm. I wanted to tell you in a different way, but here we are. You have a gun and I don't think I should wait any longer to tell you." I said calmly

The fact that he thought I was being unfaithful, was a little nerve wrecking and stupid.

"Just say it." he instructed

"Well, Giovanni, I'm having..." I paused dramatically, "a baby. Actually two babies."

I could see the expression on his face go from solemn to confusion to astonishment.

"What?" he asked

"I'm pregnant. And it's yours, a hundred percent." I explained slowly

"You're pregnant?" he asked me

"I lied because I wanted to be sure. I was on the phone with my doctor and I threw up right after. I didn't want the guards to tell you I was going to the doctor's office. And then I went to see my brother so he could give me advice on how to tell you." I described my day with ease
