Chapter 3

Soul and I walked into the apartment. It was really quiet without Blair around. She was in Vegas for a few weeks. I decided I would write her a note about where soul and I would be, just in case she comes back early.

As I was writing soul came up behind me, ¨hey, so... are you ok?¨ I stopped writing, in order to look at him. ¨Of course, why wouldn't i be?¨ i said with a fake smile. I lied, I was not ok. Learning this about my mom, it shocked me. I was trying not to think about her, since I hadn't heard from her for about 5 months. I was so worried about her, and at the same time upset. Im her daughter, if she's fine then why has she not sent me anything. If she's not fine, then why haven't I been informed that something happened? Not to mention, I was worried about the mission. I mean, this witch must hold a grudge against mom, and since I look so much like her, I knew the witch would likely target me. Putting Soul in danger as well.

Soul looked at me, ¨ you know, lying to your partner is so not cool.¨ I laughed a little at that. Soul always knew when I was lying, he was like the big brother I never had. So, I gave in. We sat at the kitchen table, and I explained all my fears and worries. By the end of it all, 2 hours had passed and I was crying. Soul comforted me, ¨I know, this whole thing is worrying me too. But don't worry, you've got me, and I'll always protect you. Your like a sister to me Maka, I'll always be here. To protect you, and for you to talk to. ¨ I smiled up at soul, and gave him a hug, which he returned.

¨So,¨ he began, ¨ what's going on with you and kid?¨ I looked at him with shock, a blush on my face. ¨um... I don't know, what youre talking about...¨ Soul laughed, ¨Come on Maka, you've been hanging out alot lately. And you two came in together today. And when everyone was leaving, and you were being asked about your mom, Kid looked ready to attack anyone who dared bring up the subject.¨

This made me blush even harder. ¨Really?¨ Soul nodded, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. ¨OK, I admit. I like Kid. At Least, I think I do. I didn't realize I felt this way, until today, when we met each other in the library. Soul, how do I know if I like him?¨ He paused, then answered, ¨ well, you will always want him around. You'll want to know more about him, and you'll understand him more than he does himself. He will make you better, in every way. The way you act, think, everything. Well, really he won't make you better, he'll make you want to be better, for him.¨

I sat there dumbfounded, ¨Soul that was, amazing. Thank you.¨ I gave him another hug, and then we went to our separate rooms to pack. ¨PACK LIGHT!!¨ I yelled, before I closed my own door.

--------------------------------- Gallows Manor ------------------------------

I entered Gallows Manor, and was immediately bombarded by questions from the sisters. ¨ What's going on with you and Maka?¨¨What did Lord Death say?¨ Do you love Maka?¨¨What's your ship name? Can it be Kima?¨¨Do you want to draw a giraffe?¨

The last question, asked by Patty, stopped the questions. I loved the thompson sisters, they were like family to me. But, sometimes, they were just to much. I began to answer their questions, one at a time. I started with what my father wanted to tell me.

Once I was done explaining, Liz and Patty both looked at me with worry. I looked back with a determined look. ¨I will protect Maka.¨ They both smiled, for all the other questions had been answered in that one line.

¨But, do you want to draw a giraffe?¨ Patty asked, deadly serious. Liz and I sweat dropped. ¨Not know Patty. We need to pack. Pack lightly, girls.¨ I said, as I walked to my room. I felt their stares on my back. When I got to my room, I closed the door, and sank to the floor.

¨I will always protect maka, always. I love her. She makes me a better person, better in every way. Well, really she makes me want to be a better person, for her.¨ With that, I stood and preceded to pack for the trip.

-------------------------------Back at Soul and Maka's apartment---------------------------

A crow sat on the building across the apartment, watching the young meister get ready for her mission. It's eyes suddenly glowed a bright red. A voice was heard, ¨ Excellent my friend. You have found her. Kami's daughter. After all these years, of planning revenge. It's finally time.¨ Evil laughter was heard. Followed by ¨I'll be waiting Maka Albarn.
