Lost

Chapter 7

Authors note:  I DONT OWN SOUL EATER. Also, this is a longer chapter, and honestly its kind of a filler, but a needed filler. Mainly contains Kima fluff, and some funny soul and maka moments.

I stayed by Maka's side for most of the night. I was about to fall asleep when I felt someone tap my shoulder, it was Tsubaki. She spoke in a quiet voice, ¨Kid, i'll take over for the rest of the night. Get some sleep.¨ I wanted to refuse, but I felt myself drifting off to sleep. I nodded my response, and Tsubaki looked at me with a smile.

With that, I fell asleep.

-----------------------------Next Morning-----------------------------------

I awoke to the sound of leaves being disturbed. My senses already on high alert, I bolted up right, ready for a fight.... Only to find Blackstar doing a sweep of the area around our camp. I sighed a breath of relief.

I looked around the camp. Tsubaki and Liz were preparing a breakfast of the food we had. Patty sat besides what was left of the fire, drawing a giraffe in the soil. Soul was trying to get the fire started again. I looked around one more time, when i noticed Maka was missing. I was about to yell out, in order to alert everyone, when I felt something move beside me. I looked down, only to find Maka, sound asleep at my side. I blushed as I realized that I had fallen asleep besides her.

I looked around, to see if anyone really noticed. Once I was sure everyone was preoccupied. I positioned myself so I could see Maka more clearly, and woke her up.

-----------------------Maka POV---------------------

I awoke to see Kid besides me, shaking me awake. I sat up groggily. The events of yesterday suddenly came flooding back, and my neck began hurt. I looked around to find everyone busy. I felt bad for sleeping in when we are in such a bad situation. But, wait, how did I make it through the night with out any more nightmares? I remembered Kid sitting with me until I fell asleep, and began to blush as I realized he must have stayed with me all night.

I looked at him, and saw him blushing as well. I smiled at him, ¨Thanks Kid.¨ He nodded, and helped me up. Patty turned around and sent me an evil smile. ¨Everyone, look who is finally awake!¨ Everyone turned towards us, as Kid and I blushed under their gazes. We walked towards the fire, where everyone else was. Tsubaki spoke, ¨Well, we need a plan guys. Any Ideas?¨ We all fell silent.

Kid spoke from his spot to my right. ¨Well, the witch's target is Maka. Som our top priority needs to be making sure Maka stays safe.¨ everyone nodded in agreement. I was about to argue, when soul came behind me and put his hand over my mouth in an effort to stop me from objecting. I rolled my eyes, and stood there, sulking, as Soul kept his hand in place. He spoke, ¨If we want to protect Maka, its best we take up the offensive. Go after the witch instead of waiting for her to make the first move. Plus, its not like any backup will be coming with that wall up.¨ He jammed his thumb in the direction of the fire wall.

Liz then joined in, ¨ We also have to get more supplies, we are very low. Our estimation of the food lasting a week, was... generous to say the least. With Patty and Blackstar, the food will only last for about 2 days.¨ We all sweat dropped, minus Blackstar who looked as proud as ever, and Patty who was talking to herself.

Kid spoke again, ¨ How about we spend today gathering supplies, and we head out to find this witch first thing tomorrow?¨ Tsubaki spoke up this time, ¨ Kid, we need more than a day. We don't know how long we will be looking for this witch. We need time to rest up, as well as gather supplies. Plus, Maka is still injured.¨ Everyone looked at me. I wanted to say I was fine, but soul refused to move his hand. Kid responded, ¨ How long should that take to heal?¨

Liz answered, ¨About 3 days, it will not be completely gone, but it will not reopen past that point.¨ Soul nodded, and released his hand. ¨Alright. 3 days, then we look for the witch. Until then, we can take turns patrolling during the day and night.¨ Everyone nodded.

I finally spoke up, ¨I will go look for a water source, along with Tsubaki. Liz, Patty , you look around for food. Soul, keep working on that Fire. Kid, Blackstar you guys take first patrol.¨ We all agreed, and with that Tsubaki and I headed out.

We had been looking for about 2 hours, never getting farther than half a mile from camp. ¨Maka, we should start heading back. Im sure everyone is worried¨. I nodded, but as we turned around I suddenly stopped. Tsubaki turned to look at me, ¨What's wrong?¨ I did not answer, I just took off in the direction of the sound, Tsubaki in pursuit.

We came upon a clearing, where we found a crystal clear pond. Tsubaki jumped in the air, ¨YES! Maka! We did it!¨ I celebrated with her. ¨YEAH WE DID!¨ I bent down, and got a pot full of water. I also refilled several water bottles that I had brought with us in my backpack. As I stood, Tsubaki said, ¨I'm so glad we found this. Now, let's hope Liz and Patty found some more food...¨ I nodded, and we began to head back to camp.

After another hour of walking, and getting lost about 3 times, we made it back to camp. Once we told everyone that we had found a water supply, everyone cheered. I looked at Liz. ¨Any luck?¨ She nodded happily and pointed closer to the fire. They had found about 15 bananas, and some fruit I had never seen before. I looked to the fire to see some kind of meat cooking. I smiled happily.

We ate a well deserved meal, as we all spoke. Enjoying eachothers company, and forgetting, for a moment, that we were in the middle of nowhere being pursued by an evil witch. After dinner, Liz rebangaged my neck. The old bandages, were covered in blood. As she removed them, I felt the wind on my cut, and clenched my fists in pain. I though no one noticed, but I failed to see everyone share a look of worry.

Once I was all patched up, we decided that Blackstar would be look out tonight. As, he was still bustling with energy. He would switch out with Patty in about 4 hours. As we all went to lay down, I grabbed Kid's hand. He looked at me confused. ¨Um.... Well... last night... it was the first time I have slept well in days. Can you stay with me again tonight?¨ I blushed and looked at the ground. He lifted my head up, and gave me a soft smile. ¨Of course.¨ I smiled back at him. With that, we all fell asleep, and I slept nightmare free for the second time. I just could not help but wonder, what about Kid kept my nightmares at bay?
