Chapter 23: "The Eighth Hokage"

Kakashi silently walked towards the tomb of the Uchiha Clan. He carefully placed a bouquet on a tomb.

"It's your girl's day. She made it. The first Uchiha Hokage..." he whispered.

His old eyes were still looking down on the tomb.

"She is the hope of the Shinobi World. She will continue your legacy...The sacrifice that you had for this world to have peace, the new generation will continue it!" he added. He put his hand on the tomb and closed his eyes.

"Here peacefully lie Uchiha Sasuke & Uchiha Sakura"

"The two of you gave your life for Naruto to live... For the world to continue living... You both are real shinobis."

"Papa, are you ready?" Himawari entered her father's room.

Naruto is in his wheelchair while holding Hinata's picture.

"Just a few more minutes dear..." he whispered and smiled at his beautiful daughter.

Himawari approached her father. She kneels in front of him and holds his hands.

"I miss her too Papa..." she whispered and smiled at Naruto.

"You really looked like your mother dattebayo..." he said. He caressed his daughter's face and then looked back at his late wife's photo.

"Anyway, it's time to go! Big brother is waiting for us outside. You know him he's impatient when it comes to waiting." Himawari pushed her father's wheelchair.

"Hey, what took you so long dattebasa!" Boruto cried. He was wearing his usual black outfit under his sensei's cloak.

"Hey old man since you are retiring what are your plans?" Boruto asked his father while walking towards the event.

"Well I'm not planning to die yet but perhaps you can bring me with you on your travels," Naruto said.

Boruto smirked. " Well... I really don't mind."

"That will be quite fun dattebasa." he added and looked away. He tried to conceal the excitement on his face

Naruto smiled at his son.

The Konohagure's people gathered at the Senju Park to witness an important event. It's the inauguration of the new Hokage of Leaf Village. Everyone was excited to see the Eighth Hokage.

Naruto stood from his wheelchair and tried to balance himself with his prosthesis right foot. He waved his artificial hand to get everybody's attention.

"Everyone! Today I give you our new Hokage, Uchiha Sarada!"

The crowd started to cheer and clap their hands when the Eight Hokage faced them.

Sarada was wearing the cape and hat of a Hokage while smiling and waving at the people. Her long black locks were dancing in the air while her eyes were glittering with happiness. She looked like her father. Her right eye is as dark as the night while she inherits the Rinnegan on the left eye. But her warmness and her presence are from Sakura. She also has the Hundred Strength Healing Seal on her forehead which made her the strongest ninja in Konoha.

After her inauguration, Sarada approached her Sensei Naruto and gave him a warm hug.

"Thank you Sensei..." she whispered. She also hugged and kissed her best friend Chou-chou who will be her appointed right hand. Her former classmates and friends greeted and congratulated her.

Boruto was just looking at them. His eyes were on Sarada. He can't help but smile and feel proud of her.

After the announcement of the new Hokage, Chou-chou called their close friends and family to join them on a small feast that she prepared.

Everybody was happily eating and drinking for another milestone in Konoha.

Boruto joined Shikadai and other friends at their table. He pulled out a gift from his cloak and checked it under the table.

"Aren't you going to give that to her?" asked a man.

"Fuck Mitsuki! Since when have you been here?" Boruto cried with a surprised look.

"Doesn't matter." Mitsuki smiled at Boruto.

"Hey you asshole Mitsuki take this and drink!" cried Inojin who was a bit intoxicated from the Sake.

Mitsuki took the cup of Sake and drank from it.

"She's not here..." Mitsuki whispered to Boruto.

The sun was dropping below the sky and a flock of birds was flying to their home. Sarada was sitting on a bench facing the ocean. She was holding a piece of paper.

"I know you will be here..." said a voice behind her. Sarada looked behind and saw Boruto.

"What are you doing here?" she asked with a frown on her face.

"Hey, you are not the only one who can go to different places using eyes dattebasa! This is my favorite spot too!" he cried. He sat next to her and looked over the ocean.

"Listen I just want to congratulate you on making it to the Hokage rank..." Boruto said he's still looking at the orange ocean.

"Thanks." she said. Her eyes were on the ocean too.

"I have something for you..." Boruto pulled out a present from his black cloak and handed it to Sarada.

Sarada unwrapped the present and pulled out a book from it. She read the title, "Our Journey" She opened the book and her eyes widened when she found out what was inside.

"T-this were letters from..." she uttered.

"From Aunt Sakura, from Sensei, from my father and some of their friends... the letters were sent during your parent's travel." Boruto said while looking at Sarada.

"It even had a letter about the day I was born! But where did you find them?" Sarada asked.

"You'll never guess..." Boruto said while smiling broadly at her.

Sarada tried not to cry. She held the book tightly to her heart and looked at Boruto. She smiled at him sweetly and said, "Thank you!"

Boruto just smiled back at her.

Sarada pulled out the letter she was holding a while ago. She opened it and read, "Congratulations" It's the only letter her mother kept. It was from her father. She gently put the letter on the last page of the book.

She looked back at the ocean and smiled again.

"I'm sure they are very proud of you. You are amazing..." Boruto whispered.

"Thank you..." she whispered and lay her head on Boruto's shoulder.

On the seashore, Sakura carefully walks and follows Sasuke's footprint. She has been there for so many years now. After the war, she and her husband sacrificed their lives to protect their best friend Naruto, and the new generation. "Children ought to have a bright future." she whispered. She suddenly looked over the waves that kissed her feet. She ran towards Sasuke and smiled at him, "She made it!" Sasuke smiled back at her and looked over the ocean and the sunset. Sakura holds his hand and he holds it tightly. They continued to walk on the seaside to meet the other Uchiha Members.
