Chapter 12: "New Family"

Chapter 12 New Family

"I already removed the poison in his body. The wound is not deep but he still has a high fever." Sakura said to Captain Morio.

Sakura found out that the claws had poison coated on it. They brought Yuru to the Captain's house because the Stone Hospital was under surveillance because of the explosions.

"Thank you so much Sakura-chan." Captain Morio said.

"Will he be fine now Lady Sakura?" Koishi asked with a worried face.

"Don't worry he will be fine..." Sakura answered. She caresses the young girl's face.

Koishi sat beside Yuru's mat. Yuru was moaning in pain. Sakura took the towel on Yuru's forehead and soaked it with water and put it back on the boy's forehead.

"K-kasan..." Yuru whimpered.

Koishi holds Yuru's hand, "We are here Yuru-kun." Koishi whispered in his ear. The boy gripped Koishi's hand tightly and he hushed from pain.

Moonbeams shone through the leaves of the trees. The Tsuchikage visited Captain Morio's house in the middle of the night to check on Yuru's condition.

"His body temperature is getting normal." Sakura reported to the Tsuchikage.

"We suspect that this might be caused by some people who are still protesting against the Ninja Alliance. Sadly, there are still some people who think that alliance with other countries and accepting ideas and efficient alternatives like this will remove the old tradition." the Fourth Tsuchikage said with a slight disappointment in her tone.

Furinto wrapped a blanket around Koishi who never left Yuru's side. "You should rest as well Koishi-chan." he smiled at her sincerely.

"Thank you Furinto-kun...You're always there for me and Yuru-kun." she smiled sweetly at her teammate.

Furinto sat beside Koishi, "Of course, you two are my friends." he said and put his arm on Koishi's shoulders.

Sakura watched the genins and she couldn't help but smile.

"Yuru's parents died during the war. They fought alongside us to defeat Madara but unfortunately, they were one of his victims." Captain Morio handed a cup of green tea to Sakura.

"Thank you..." Sakura said.

"He became an aloof child. Having him with Furinto is not easy to handle but I hope he learns to accept us as his new family..." Captain Morio added.

"I'm sure he does..." Sakura said. She looked at Sasuke who was having tea with the Tsuchikage and her guards. Sasuke looked at her. She smiled at him. Sasuke stared at her for a while then he faced the Tsuchikage again. Captain Morio looked at both of them and started to think.

Yuru slowly opened his eyes. He got a little blinded by the sun shining from the window. On his left side, he saw Koishi and Furinto sitting together but they were sleeping. Yuru tried to stand but he felt a sudden pain in his chest. He squeaks from pain. His voice awakened Koishi and quickly ran to him.

Furinto ran outside the room and told Sakura and the others that Yuru awakened.

"He is okay now but we still need to observe him." Sakura told Captain Morio and everybody.

Koishi started to cry and jumped to Yuru and hugged him.

Captain Morio and Furinto smiled at Sakura, "Thank you so much!" they said.

"Sasuke and Sakura go home and take a rest. I will have another team to temporarily guard both of your teams. Go ahead and take a break. Both of you had been working hard. You can proceed with your mission in a week." the young Tsuchikage said.

Sakura stretched her arms in the air. It has been a long night and she's glad that there are no fatal casualties during the explosion. She left her Special Medical Team to handle the rest.

"Sasuke-kun let's go ahead and have breakfast at one of Stone's café here!" Sakura cried.

Sasuke just nodded and followed Sakura to the café. Sakura ordered a berry cheesecake and a glass of milkshake while Sasuke ordered a rice ball and a cup of tea.

"It's been a while since we ate together in a place like this Sasuke-kun!" Sakura said. She was blushing a little because she thought that it could be a date with Sasuke.

"Yeah..." Sasuke mumbled.

"Is something bothering you?" Sakura asked.

"No, nothing at all." Sasuke replied. He took his cup of tea and drank from it. The truth is he's thinking about the monster they encountered at the construction site. He thought the jutsu that the monster was using was similar to the puppeteers he encountered in Suna. He gazed at Sakura who looked happy while eating her cake.

"By the way, did the Suna reply to our inquiry about the gang of thieves that I fought?" Sasuke asked.

"Oh yes about that! I received a letter from Kankuro this dawn and according to him, three of the gang members mysteriously passed away in jail a few months ago. They are still investigating if there's a foul play because based on their autopsies, the three bodies died in the same manner. Their chakras had been drained out from their bodies. Kankuro said in the letter that suspects might be inmates in Suna Jail because this gang had gang wars before with other prisoners..."

"I see..." Sasuke whispered.

"Since we have a week off perhaps we can start on checking at Orochimaru's hideout nearby." Sakura suggested.

"No, I will go ahead and check it myself. All of his hideouts here had been detonated by Iwa Ninjas so there's nothing to worry about that..." Sasuke said.

"But..." Sakura mumbled.

"You should rest... You've been pushing yourself too much in the past months. You're losing weight." Sasuke added.

Sakura's face turned red. Sasuke had been observing her and took notice of something that was changing on her she thought. Even she didn't notice any changes because she had been occupied on the mission. She took a glance at him. He was sitting in front of her while his eyes were fixed outside the window. He looked beautiful she thought.

Sakura raised her fork with a piece of cake, "Here try it! It's really good!"

"No thanks. I don't like sweets." Sasuke said.

"Come on Sasuke-kun! Just one bite! It's delicious I swear! It's Iwagakure's specialty!" Sakura drew the fork near Sasuke's mouth.

"No thank you!"

"Say ahhhhh!" Sakura cried. She stood a little from her chair to reach him.

Some customers are looking at them already. He opened his mouth to take the piece of cake. He really looked embarrassed.
