~your perspective~
I don't remember much of yesterday, but today is more important. It's Colby's birthday! For his birthday I'm setting up a little...scavenger hunt...I guess you could call it. All the clues I will set up around the house will lead him to his present. Colby is upstairs sleep. On a piece of paper I wrote "This is a game I want to play. Play along and you'll make my day," and tapped it on the door on the inside. I quickly set up his first clue on his computer screen. It says, "go find your camera. There will be another clue. Lova ya, _____" I silently left and closed the door. After about 10 of me setting up his little adventure, I heard him wake up.
"What's this babe?" Colby walked down the stairs to where I was and kissed the top of my head.
"You'll see. Just play along pleeaase?" I extended the word and put on my best sad puppy face. Colby chuckles and agreed.
Colby found his camera and started recording willingly. The next clue said, "Looks like you haven't eaten anything yet. How 'bout some pizza rolls."
"The best you could think of? Pizza Rolls?" Colby laughed.
"Hey," I lightly punched him on the arm, "I was under pressure alright?" Colby made his was to the kitchen where a plate of Pizza Rolls.
"I originally had a normal serving, but it looks like Corey got into them," I commented when I saw most of them were gone... Colby said something under his breath I couldn't quite understand. It was something about Corey and the Pizza Rolls. Under the plate he saw a little note that said "Your surprise is outside in the drive. It wouldn't fit in the house,"
"It's not a car is it..." Colby said with a half smile.
"All I can is that it's a toy Yoda!"
"YOU GOT ME A TOYOTA?!" Colby ran out the front door to find not what he expected. As soon as he saw it, he picked it up and smiled an embarrassed smile at me. I laughed and give him a hug.
"Dat not nice," Colby chuckled.
"But it's your birthday. You should have a little fun."
"We are in about..." Colby glanced at his watch, "40-45 more minutes. We're going to a restaurant with Corey and Devyn, Kat and Sam, and Elton and Amanda," Colby said holding the door open for me.
"Sounds like fun!" We spent the time we hade left playing Rocket League.
I sat in front of a mirror on the floor. When I went to put on some basic makeup, that's when it hit me. For the first time, I realized these scars will never go away. In fact, they are getting more noticeable. I hate them. I started to claw at my face and hand where they are when Colby came in.
"Baby? What are you doing?!" Colby came over and tried to keep me from tearing my skin anymore than I already had.
"I'm really sorry..." I said as he wiped away tears, "I'm sorry you have to deal with a mess like me." I let more sobs out as he tried to comfort me.
"You aren't a mess. You are an amazing girlfriend." When Colby wasn't paying attention, I couldn't help, but start to claw at my left hand again.
Colby noticed and said almost shouting, "Baby, please. You're gonna make me cry..." I saw tears dwell in his eyes. That didn't stop me. Colby called Corey and Devyn to our room sense those were the only people home at the moment.
"What do you ne—." Corey stopped mid sentence when he saw the blood coming from my hand. Devyn rushes over to the bathroom and grabbed a couple of cloth wraps and wrapped my hand.
"_____, why?" Devyn the most caring about me, besides Colby of course, almost started crying as well. Corey took Colby out of the room and talked to him.
"Why do I have to be like this," I said when the boys came back in. Colby's face was red from crying while Corey was a little pale from the blood. I was now on the bed sitting beside Devyn.
"Because you're perfect. Just the way you are," Colby said kissing me on the forehead.
