Once In a Lifetime

Chapter 1

~your perspective~

     It was a cold winter night. It's now below freezing. My heater just broke. I've run out of of blankets to use. I'm unable to fall asleep. So I put on some black leggings with another pair on top (because I'm sensitive to cold). Warm fuzzy socks were then slipped over my leggings along with my Ugg boots. I then had a sweatshirt that said "X" on the front and "Now or Never" on the back. I didn't have much of a hat selection nor do I need to because I only wear beanies. So I of course pull out my favorite Sam and Colby.
     I had woken my Chocolate Labrador Retriever mix, Jax up.
Oh great. I thought. When Jax knows someone (me) is going outside, he has to go too. Not because he has to be supervised all the time, but because we will bark and wake all the neighbors. I just moved a month ago so I'd rather be known for the sweet and kind person I am.

     I go to reach for Jax's winter harness and I hear a knock on my door.
"It's only 10:30" I say to Jax. Yes. I talk to my dog. And I believe he responds back.
I look out my kitchen window which is right beside the front door at which they are at. I see a man and a girl. The man looks about 22. His hair is in a man bun. On his head he has the same beanie as I have on. His shirt says "Send It". He's only wearing jeans and tennis shoes. The girl looks about 20-21. She has a full face of makeup. She's wearing a long sweatshirt over some leggings and like Corey, just tennis shoes. They had no coats.
     "Hey they look familiar." I go to open the door.
"Hi" I say trying to keep Jax from knocking them down.
"Hi." The man says. His voice was indescribable. "Us and some other friends just moved into this neighborhood. We've seen you walk down this street a lot. You always seem interested and stop in front of our house."
"That's your house?!" I was so happy at this point.
Wait. Isn't he C-Corey Scherer?  That must mean that she's Devyn Lundy.
"It sure is. We were gonna introduce who we were but since there's six of us, we thought that would be a little intimidating."
"I know who you guys are! I watch you on YouTube all the time."
"You do? Well I see you certainly like Sam and Colby!"
"He he. Yeah... well I'm <insert name>
"And we're Corey and Devyn. But you already knew that..."
     Our conversation went on. All four of us including Jax walked down the street talking about ourselves.
     The question from Devyn came up "So we were wandering if... you would like to become one of the roommates at our house."
"Wait. Really?" I was so shocked and happy and excited
"Well of course. And your dog..."
"Jax"
"Right. Jax. He can come and become the fourth dog. Along with Circa, Buddy, and Navi."
"Well of course I'll become a roommate. I'm so happy!"
"Great! We've been looking for a new roommate. Our house is big enough." Said Devyn full of relief.
"Well let's go meet the other guys" said Corey "RACE YOU THERE."
     Since I run with my dog everyday, I have a pretty good start. And plus, I know a shortcut...don't ask why... We all end up there at the same time. Except for Corey.
"WHAT THE CRAP. I EVEN GOT A HEAD START"
"Babe-" Devyn said laughing her butt off.
"Shut up" Corey says smiling but embarrassed.
     I go to knock on the door when Corey says "we live here. We don't need to knock."
"Right" I say stepping back to let them open the door.
Corey opens the door and Devyn goes in first. Then me, then Corey.
"Woah. It's even prettier than on video" I say just staring up in amazement.
"Hello?" I here a guy say. It sounds like Elton.
"We brought the new roommate over."
"Oh ok. Well. Excited to meet her!"
Elton, Sam, and Colby are in the game room playing Rocket League.
"Come on guys. You had to play it without me?" Corey said turning off the tv.
"Hey what was that for. It didn't save my high score yet. I just beat Colby." Sam said before letting out some cuss words.
"Hello!" I excitedly. "I'm ______ and this is Jax."
The boys all simultaneously said "hi!"
"Aww another dog" Elton happily said petting Jax.
"Aw sweet" Colby said getting up.
"What kind of dog is he?" Sam asked
"He's a chocolate Labrador Retriever mix. He's really sweet. Except he kinda barks a lot. I hope you guys don't mind."
"Three dogs barking at once compared to one dog is nothing. It'll just add a louder bark. No problem." Elton exclaimed.
     "Hey I like your sweatshirt and beanie!" Colby said
"Uh thanks? I mea-"
"Let's fix that right now" Elton says throwing me a "Send It" shirt.
"And here's this" Corey says throwing a "Günthy Günther" beanie.
"They haven't even come out yet. Consider yourself 'lucky'." Sam said said quoting "lucky" with his fingers. "Kat is upstairs. Would you like to meet her?"
"Why not?"
"I'll go get her."
It was only a couple seconds before they both came down.
"Hello!" I said waving.
"Hi. I- what happened. This room is covered in merch. Guys quit trying to get her to be on 'teams'." Kat said looking specifically at Elton.
"What did I do?" Elton laughed
"Well this is Jax. A chocolate Labrador Retriever. Another to add to the wolf pack."
Aaron came in the front door and screamed and fell when Jax met him at the door.
"No one answer if he asks who's dog it is. And we'll act like he's seeing Jax and you" Colby whisper looking at me. 
I nodded.
"Hello? Who's dog is this?" Aaron asked walking into the game room.
"What dog." Elton replied look Aaron dead in the eye.
"The br— hello. Who's this."
"Who." Devyn said acting like she's questioning Aaron's mental health.
I stare him in the entire time. My head moves with him. If he walks to the the right, my head follows. Same with the left.
"Do you guys not see anyone or anything? This girl is just staring at me." Aaron says almost not buying it.
I then stand up and just stare at him not moving.
"Ok. If this is a prank, I'm not buying it."
"Yeah no. It's not a prank." Corey says.
I turn my head to where it's almost laying on my shoulder. I give a creepy smile.
"Yeah um. I don't like this."
Aaron then walks into the kitchen to set his stuff down. I then scream as if someone is tearing me in two. Aaron falls to floor holding his hand on his chest. The other boys are just as frightened as Aaron is. The girls are amazed that I had it in me.
"THAT IS NOT OK. I DON'T LIKE THAT PRANK COLBY." Elton says trying to catch his breath. Corey is just staring into the ibis.
"Sorry. I kinda had to let it out. I had to scare him somehow." I say laughing.
"Well that's a first impression." Aaron says stumbling into the game room.
"I'm _____. And that's Jax." I say pointing to my dog.
"I see that you've been visited by the merch bomb."
"Yeah." I say looking around the room.
"We'll give you a tour tomorrow. Go home and get some rest." Colby says hugging me.
"Great."
"Just stop by whenever. With Jax."
"Ok" I say laughing. "Bye"
"Bye" everyone says at once.
