A childish giggle rang through the mansion. After it came a deep laughter. Everyone in the kitchen chuckled. The small pitter-patter of feet rushed in to reveal a small boy followed by Molahs, who made an attempt to grab him.
This little boy was five years old. He had long silver hair like his mother, uncles, and grandfather. He also had claws and fangs. Unless he was angry, his eyes matched his mother's.
Anyone could tell he was a miniature of his mother. The only exception in his appearance was his nose and his eyes, once angered. Like any five year old, the boy had a tendency to throw temper tantrums when he got angry. The boy's parents, uncles, and grandfather first learned that the boy's eyes turned jet black when enraged during the child's first and only play date.
It had started over a toy in the sandbox at the park. Truthfully, the toy did belong to the half death deity to begin with. When it had been time to go home, the human boy that the half death deity had been playing with wanted to take the toy home. The former had been taught by Nothile that some situations called for a calm voice to show anger.
The latter boy had screamed in terror. The former hadn't said or done a thing. Both mother's had come up to find out what had happened. Needless to say, once the two had seen what had frightened the human child, the latter's mother called Hessa's son a freak due to the boy's eyes changing from gold to jet black.
Hessa hadn't been surprised that her son had inherited his father's eyes. She had definitely heard that eyes can change color based on mood. However, the mother of the human boy wasn't amused in the least. In short, that play date had been the first and last once word got out about the incident.
In all actuality, the demonic child was like any other boy his age. He loved climbing trees, spending time with his dad, and just being a kid. That didn't mean he had a child's intellect, for he had inherited both of his parents' intelligent minds. The boy's name was Takai.
Currently, Takai ducked behind his mother to avoid his grandfather's playful grasp. Akiva, Nothile, and Hessa started laughing at the little boy's antics. Molahs plopped down onto the cold floor and pretended to pout. Chandrakant rolled his eyes at his father.
"You must think that Takai is a simpleton, father." Chandrakant remarked.
Molahs returned, "Of course not! I would never think my beloved grandson was, as you say, a simpleton."
"That would be you, Chandrakant." Nothile added with a grin.
Nothile burst into laughter as his elder brother-in-law turned to glare at him. Molahs's own deep laughter joined his son-in-law's. Akiva and Hessa rolled their eyes and shook their heads. Takai simply hugged his mother's legs in an effort to keep Molahs from getting him.
The three siblings watched as Takai's fourth tutor in two weeks stalked off. Each one seemed to have the same problem. They couldn't get Takai to write in English. He could speak and read it, but he couldn't seem to be able to write it.
Naturally, Chandrakant was the one that disapproved the most. Nothile had offered time and time again to teach him. However, Chandrakant remarked that Nothile was in no way qualified to teach five year old boys how to write in English. Each time, Nothile shrugged and let the matter drop.
"Soon enough, word will spread about Takai. I could teach him to write in English." Nothile said from his spot inside the doorway to the rest of the mansion.
"As I've told you, multiple times, you are not qualified to teach anyone to write in English. Especially not five year olds." Chandrakant returned.
