A knock on the door alerted the demonics and death deity within the mansion that they had a visitor. Nothile and Takai looked up from the table where the five year old was currently being tutored by his father. Chandrakant and Molahs halted in their current debate over what the afternoon activity would be. Akiva was in the kitchen since it was his turn to make lunch.
Hessa shrieked in delight when she opened the door. In the doorway stood the woman that had been her maid of honor at her mating ceremony. She was a human with vibrant green eyes, natural ruby lips, a petite nose, flowing ebony hair, a thin frame, average sized breasts, wide hips, and long legs. She was dressed in skinny jeans, a blue silk blouse, and black high-heeled boots.
"Trinity!" Hessa exclaimed with delight.
"Hey, Hessa!" I was in town and wanted to catch up. I had heard that you and your mate had had a little boy." Trinity responded.
"His name is Takai." Hessa replied, gesturing for her best friend to enter.
Excited at meeting someone new, Takai jumped down from his chair and ran to where the two women were standing. At the stranger's glace at him, Takai became nervous. To comfort himself, Takai gripped one of his mother's legs and hid behind her. Hessa chuckled at her son's antics.
"Well aren't you adorable?" Trinity remarked, kneeling down.
Takai gripped his mother's leg tighter. Nothile had followed his son. At seeing his father so close, Takai ran to him. Nothile hoisted the five year old onto his hip with ease.
"Sorry, Takai is not usually shy." Nothile stated, taking his spot next to his mate.
Trinity replied, "Oh, it's alright. Kids usually get shy around me even if they usually aren't. I'm used to it. He takes after his mom, I see."
Hessa and Nothile looked at each other, smiled in a secretive way, and turned back to their visitor. Hessa returned, "Watch his eyes, if you can, when he gets angry."
"It's not like I have control over my eye color!" Takai piped up.
Trinity gasped comically and exclaimed, "It speaks!"
Takai stuck his tongue out, causing all three adults to laugh. Molahs, Chandrakant, and Akiva came into the room. Curiosity had overwhelmed them and they wanted to know who the visitor was. Chandrakant rolled his eyes and Molahs simply turned around and was soon followed by his eldest, leaving Akiva to gawk at Trinity.
Akiva had had a crush on Trinity since the moment he met her when Hessa first introduced her to the family. He didn't know why, but his heart beat faster every time he laid eyes on her beautiful face. He had never felt that way about anyone before. However, Akiva was too scared to tell Trinity how he felt about her.
The half demon thought his baby sister was lucky to have met Nothile, a non-discriminating former human. He felt he wouldn't have that sort of good fortune. In one way or the other, Akiva thought, all humans were prejudiced against demonics. After all, befriending a demonic and dating one were entirely different things.
Akiva was brought out of his musing by Trinity saying, "Hey, Akiva."
Startled, Akiva opened his mouth to speak, found he couldn't, closed his mouth, and rushed back to the kitchen. Hessa and Nothile watched with curiosity. Astounded, the two looked at each other, nodded, and Hessa followed her brother. She found him with his head in his hands, sitting at the breakfast table, and a blush on his face.
Hessa cave up behind him, started rubbing his back, and asked, "You okay?"
"Yeah." Akiva replied, "Just embarrassed is all."
