Hessa's head hurt. Every memory she had gained as Serina was flooding through her mind. Training in her tribe, meeting Nothile, getting pregnant, even getting jealous when the Queen ogled her mate and husband. Every single moment was rushing to the forefront of her mind and it was too much for her to handle all at once.

'I am not trying to hurt you by showing you these things, I am trying to remind you of who you once were.' A voice said in Hessa's mind.

Frightened, Hessa called out, "Who said that?"

The voice answered, again in Hessa's mind, 'I did. I am Serina, the life you used to have. In a sense, I am you.'

"Why haven't you said anything before now?" Hessa asked.

'You had to acknowledge that we used to be the same person.' Serina answered again.

"But, what do your memories have to do with my life?" Hessa wondered.

'To prepare for the future, you have to learn from the past.' Serina responded philosophically.

"You don't think that knowing about all of these things will affect me, do you?" Hessa replied, skeptical.

'A past unresolved tends to resurface until it is concluded. I have no doubt that Ankhsetha has more trouble she wishes to cause. I have seen, through your eyes, the spell she has cast on Nothile.' Serina calmly explained.

Hessa protested, "But Ankhsetha's dead! She can't cause anymore trouble."

'Hessa, someone like Ankhsetha will find a way to return, even from death. There is no stopping that.' Serina tried to reason.

"If she could return, why hasn't she? It's been about four thousand years!" Hessa naively pointed out.

Serina sighed. She couldn't believe that her reincarnation could be this ignorant about her own abilities and that of others. Had the old traditions truly been forgotten? The demoness part of Hessa's soul remembered that there used to be multiple ways to resurrect someone.

Serina had no doubt that Nothile, bewitched by the Queen, would not rest until Ankhsetha had been resurrected, truly resurrected. Just as there were numerous ways to resurrect someone, so were the states the being would be in after the ancient magic receded. A true resurrection restored blood, flesh, muscle, and bone. Once brought back from the dead, Ankhsetha would no doubt try to have Hessa killed.

'Magic spells and rituals know no time. Nothile remains under her influence. She wishes to rule Egypt and will not rest until that happens. Hessa, you must understand that you can not hesitate with her. I wound up beheaded, on her orders, because I gave a single moment's hesitation.' Serina reasoned.

"What does that have to do with me? I have no grudge against her. You might, but I don't!" Hessa argued.

'That will not matter! She will take one look at you and know that you are me reborn. Then, your life will be in danger!' Serina tried to persuade.

"She can't possibly be that cruel! I'm sure underneath her desire to rule the world, she's a good person." Hessa said.

'Hessa, she rendered me barren just to irritate me! She used me to get to Nothile. Ankhsetha is not a good person!' Serina contended.

Memories flashed in Hessa's mind again. Images of arguing with the Queen on her first anniversary of being mated to Nothile, misconceiving because of a tonic, misuse of said tonic damaging her womb, and, finally, not being allowed to get revenge for it. Hessa clutched her head in pain. Every memory Serina showed her proved that Ankhsetha was, in a sense, pure evil.
