Twenty Seven | Hello Dad

Daniel's P.O.V.

"For a year." I interlocked Dani's hand with mine and gulped hard. 

I did not intend on introducing Dani yet, we're not even dating. Well, we kind of are but it's just for pretend because of a stupid promise I made to an important person in my life. I know it was wrong of me to keep on lying to him, but I just did not want to lose to him. 

I wanted to let my hyung know that I already got over her. The girl whom I got head over heels for. He was one of my closest friends but he ended up on marrying the girl who was my first love. The girl whom I decided to forget ever since I went to Seoul. 

I wanted to let the both of them know that I have already moved on and I found someone else that was just for me. It was the reason why I lied to him, I am such a coward for doing that.

This Kang Euigeon just did not want to seem even more pathetic in front of the people whom he had shared his memories with. But they are married now.

It would be very nice if I really had someone to show him. But with all my schedules, I barely got the time for myself, how much more if I did date someone in the span of the WannaOne contract. 

I really owe Dani so much for dragging her in this, and even the news broke out on social media even if we haven't confirmed it yet.

"Why haven't you told us anything, Daniel?" My Dad had his jaw clenched.

He did not like it when I would keep secrets that were kind of important to them even though I am not the kind of person who shares everything to my family. I do love them a lot but I'm grown now so I'm starting to live responsibly.

"I'm so sorry Dad, it's just that Dani and I grew farther when I got busy, we just made up a few weeks ago." Lies.

I wanted to hit myself for the lies that had already piled up. The look on Dani's face just showed how nervous the both of us were. But before the conversation could finish, Dani stood up quickly making me jump out in surprise.

"Eommonim, I know that you may not like this but can I cook dinner for you?" She was bowing and giving me signs to bow too so I did.

I actually just tasted her cooking twice-when she left dishes on our hotel door and when she cooked for all the boys. They were all sumptuous of course, and I knew eveyone appreciated it too.

"What? Here in my house?" She nodded her head with determination in her eyes.

My Mom was more than delighted to do so which surprised me. How come she never told me she liked Dani? Well, we never really talked since the wedding but she was always with her same age friends.

"Okay, let's go." Dani and her made their way to the kitchen.

Leaving me and Dad behind.

"You do realize that this suddenly appears out of the blue, right?"

"I wanted to tell you Dad, I just couldn't find the time and the courage to do so."

"Why would you not have courage, son? You are Kang Daniel and you are loved by everyone."

"It's just that Dani and I weren't so sure of ourselves before, and now we are." My Dad nodded his head and turned on the tv.

I tried to enter the kitchen but Mom wouldn't let me.

"Boys are not allowed in the kitchen right now." She shushed me away and went back to the kitchen.

I could smell a savory aroma in the kitchen, and I knew that Dad did too.

"Dani, we have to leave in a few hours because we'll be late for our flight." She shouted an okay as a response.

My Dad and I exchanged glances when I heard his stomach grumble.

"The way to a man's heart is through his stomach." A smile crept up to my face when I remembered what Dani whispered to my ear before going to the kitchen.

It really was for me, and I know that this is her way to win my dad.

"Dinner is ready!" We all went to the table to see that everything was served.

Dani and I sat beside each other and she pinched me constantly to ease her nervousness. I tried to stop it by clutching her hand and not letting go of it. She glared at me though so I just decided to let her go again.

We were all staring at Dad when he took his first bite. All of us laughed when he almost stood up in glee when he tasted the food.

I knew right then, that Dani already won my parents over and she's not even my girlfriend, yet.
