As Harper proceeded, walking swiftly down the corridor that lay past the door, she noticed the increasingly recurring pattern of strange behaviour.
The hushed tones lingered in her mind, following her up the stairs and into the main hall.
She sat herself down on a hard wooden chair that emitted a loud squeak whenever a slight movement occurred in her. Harper thought this was to reduce the risk of dozing off, when on common occasion, the laws got tedious on another level. However she had a feeling she wouldn't be dozing off. Not today, in fact she was determined she wouldn't.
Harper let her eyes wander, first to the rows and rows of troubled expressions each whispering as before, then up onto the dimly lit stage.
A hush descended over the crowd.
A woman walked onto the stage, heels clacking noisily behind her.
Clearing her throat, she ran her hands along her suit, in an evident attempt to rid it of non-existent creases. Stepping forward, she tapped the microphone in front of her, a loud screech followed. After the hands that had shot up to their ears (in a feeble attempt to rid themselves of the dastardly sound) lowered she began. Harper forgot her previous determination, falling into a deep sleep, drifting far away......
