Harper stared around, amongst other citizens, the same awestruck expression upon each face. The corridor seemed to stretch on as far as the eye could see. The walls were painted white, like a blank canvas, so bright that if you rested your gaze upon them for too long, your eyes would feel uncomfortable and you would have to blink, eyes opening and closing rapidly until the effects that had emitted from the wall had eased.
Doors and doors, all similarly the same shade of blue, were lined up along the entirety of the gleaming walls. The blue was not unlike that of the sky, on a clear summers day, not a cloud in sight. Each door also had a label, each one corresponding to what lay in sight, the writing being so small however that if you wanted to know what lay inside, you would have to go extremely close, almost pressing your body against the wall to see what the label read. A purposeful measure, Harper thought.
The crowd continued to move, the same air of wonder still around it. A fleeting thought was prosed in Harpers mind, as she noticed how the crowd was moving swiftly, this way and that, arriving at the question, who was leading the crowd?
The answer to Harper's question was soon revealed, as the crowd came to a halt, a person separated themselves from the crowd. A formal voice began;
"Testing will proceed as follows, in the series of rooms to my right, you will each go in to the testing rooms where a small sample of your DNA will be collected. You will receive your results in due course." They took a pause, as though considering the best choice of words, "If you are then deemed part of Them, the government will be taking.....further action of sorts."
They ended their speech, carefully unlocking the first door, then proceeding to the others. Harper was trying not to let her confusion show as she made her way into one of the rooms. Upon entry, Harper realised the confusion was not displayed in her eyes alone, even those whose attention had been rapt showed a similar air of unease. Confused voices rang out as people filed into rooms.
Who were They?
Unless....
No, it couldn't be,
The robots had returned.

As Harper had this thought, she promptly tripped, sprawled uncomfortably across the middle of the floor.
