"Rise and shine sleepyhead" I sang as I waited for Simone to wake up. This was the third time I tried to wake her, but nothing seemed to be working. She stirred in her sleep again but still, didn't wake. This girl took sleeping to a whole other level, I mean talk about playing dead! Rolling my eyes I decided to just leave her there, and go downstairs. You know the saying, you snooze, you lose.

I could smell breakfast already from the top of the stairs. I loved Saturday mornings, eggs and french toast for breakfast and then a full day with my Dad. My parents got divorced when I was eight. It was hard in the beginning but I knew that life would be better once all the yelling and crying was gone. My parents divorce, though hard, was necessary.

"Morning" I mumbled as I walked into the kitchen, ready to devour anything in sight. Luke looked up from the pan where the eggs were currently frying long enough to give me a smile. I smiled back, a little curious as to why Luke, who normally waits for me or mom to get up just so he doesn't have to cook, was standing in the kitchen making breakfast.

My question was quickly answered though, when two boys, one of which I've never met before came tumbling into the kitchen.

"Oh Rainie" Daniel said as he stopped laughing "Good morning!" I sent him a small smile before turning my attention towards the other boy.

"I'm Max" he said, extending his hand out to me "We met last night"

I looked at him weirdly, ignoring his out stretched hand, I had no clue what this kid was talking about. I would have remembered if we'd met before. I mean, not to sound creepy or anything, but this boy was definitely on the more attractive side of things.

"Uh, no we didn't!" I snapped.

Max looked at me smiling "We did" he started "Over the phone, you just didn't know it was me"

I groaned as I finally realized what he was talking about. He was the idiot who Luke got to call me last night. No wonder I didn't recognize the voice.

"Oh, sorry, Ryan Ryan" I said sarcastically as I shot Luke a glare.

Luke chuckled as he turned back to the food "So wheres that Blondie of yours?"

"Sleeping" I said as I plopped down at one of the stools by the island "The girl could seriously be dead, I just don't know anymore! Why?"

"Because" Luke started "I gotta know how much food to make, that girl can eat!"

"Really now?" A voice said as Simone strutted into the kitchen. She flipped her long blond locks over her shoulder while giving Luke the much dreaded 'Stare'. See Simone has this thing she does with her eyes when she's mad, she kind of squints them and stares at you -hence its name- without breaking eye contact for a while. It can really get pretty scary.

"I mean that with love." Luke joked as he handed her a plate of food as a peace offering. Simone gladly accepted before strutting across the kitchen and sitting herself down beside Max. I knew it was coming, the girl had basically been undressing him with her eyes since the moment she noticed him sitting by the table, picking at his french toast. I told you he was on the attractive side of things!

"Hello gorgeous" she said, winking at him as she poured ketchup over her eggs. "I don't think I've head the pleasure of meeting your pretty face before!"

Max practically choked on the food in his mouth before sticking his hand out towards Simone. "I'm Max"

Simone shook his hand happily. "So where has Luke been hiding you?"

"I moved a couple months ago" he muttered. "Didn't really know Luke till now.."

Simone nodded as she turned back to her food. I hate to say this, but I'm pretty sure Max looked relieved. Simone could seriously be a little over the top sometimes.

"So Rain, I was thinking that after you get back from your Dads later we could study for bio. Cool?" Simone asked before popping food into her mouth.

I nodded "It's a date."

#####

"You should have seen her face Dad. It was priceless!" Luke laughed as he leaned back against the couch. We were at dad's apartment across town. Originally we were gonna go out for pizza but Luke said he didn't want to. Apparently last time, when we started a minor food fight and my or may not have gotten kicked out, scarred him enough to not want to go out with us again.

I rolled my eyes, ignoring my brothers laughter. It's like pranking me was the only thing he could talk about and it wasn't even that funny!

"Yeah Dad." I said as I glared at Luke "You should be proud!"

My father rolled his eyes at our craziness before lifting up a D.V.D from his collection. "Why don't we do something that requires you two idiots to be quiet! How does Madagascar 2 sound?"

Luke and I both laughed before agreeing to watch the movie. I lifted myself up from off the floor and placed myself between Luke and my dad to watch the movie. World where animals can talk and giraffes can love hippos, here I come!

An hour and a half later the movie was done, and yes I cried. I'm not even sure why, there's just something about animated movies that tugs at my heart strings. I mean that scene, where baby Alex gets snatched, please tell me I'm not alone here!

"Oh god Rain!" Luke complained when he noticed my blood shot eyes "Why are you crying?"

"Because it's a sad movie!" I snapped at my annoying brother placing my hands on my hips for added affect. Like seriously, what does he mean why am I crying? Did we not just watch the same movie?

"It's an animated movie, with talking animals. How is it sad?" he shot back, clearly annoyed.

I tried to give him 'The Stare', the one Simone does, that scares the crap out of everybody, including Luke! But I'm pretty sure I just ended up looking like a mental patient with a bad twitch. I should really get Simone to teach me how she does it sometime. Luke opened his mouth to say something -probably something about my bad attempt at looking scary- but my father beat him to the chase with "Stop arguing!"

We both looked up to find him looking bored and unamused. Even when him and mom were married he was always the no nonsense one. He thinks that a family is supposed to be tight knit and close, and the constant arguing that goes on between me and Luke clearly doesn't fit his picture of a perfect family.

"Sorry Daddy!" I mumbled as I backed away from Luke and sat down on the couch. Luke glared at me again, after he made sure my dad wasn't looking. He knew I never called my father Daddy, so he was pretty upset that I was trying to weasel my way out of getting lectured by playing the innocent little girl. Something he can't do!

My father ran his fingers through his hair and sighed. "It's fine guys. Just please when you're here, try and keep the fighting to a minimum. Okay?"

"Okay!"

(TFIOS refrence :P)
