Chapter 4-The Vital Quest

Silver Shadow's POV-Continued

After two hours, I woke up in the same reclined chair but the arm cuffs were opened. What was kind of strange was that Zikrab and his assistant were not in sight. The room was perfectly quite and motionless except water dripping onto the wooden floor from a leaking cylinder on the table.

"Should I escape this room and never come back?" I thought as I looked around.

After a few seconds I was about get out of the chair when, a door behind me opened and closed and voices approached the chair. "Hello, I see your awake. Come with us, we have something to show you." Zikrab said as he spotted me half lifted of the chair. "Okay but where are we going. And what did you do with that helmet? I thought you said no more tests?" I asked as I got out of the chair and stood beside it. "Look I told you I will answer your questions, but first you must come with me." he replied with a trace of annoyance in his voice.

So I exited the room with Zikrab, and on the way out I sneaked a sharp knife that was laying on the shelf near the back door. I eyed my walking stick, which was leaning on the same shelf, as we left the room and Zikrab's assistant in the room. The tall wooden door closed with a tud as we stepped out on the small platform, that had spiraling wooden stairs to the left and cobblestone walls in front and to the right of us. Zikrab tapped a pattern in front of him with his stick. A few seconds later, the cobblestone retreated one by one until a small arch formed starting from the sides of the platform.

On the other side of the arch was a plain black room and had huge blackboards in the centers of all four walls. There was a long table almost the size of the width of the floor. This table was flooding with papers, diagrams, notes, and piles of paper stacked on top of the table. On the blackboard placed in the main center wall, was a huge diagram that had a big circle dead center that had "The Laboratories" written in it, from the center lines reached out to peoples faces and some were crossed out yet others were circled. The very edge of the diagram had my face, and the picture was circled. I squinted to look around, due to the dim light source that was flickering from the ceiling. Also as soon as we stepped into the room the cobblestone wall closed behind us.

"Ah welcome to the presentation room, as some people might call it." Zikrab said as he grabbed a white chalk for the empty left side blackboard. "So what are we doing here?" I asked as I held the sharp knife behind my back just in case. "I will tell you several things. What I am about to tell you must be kept only in that head of yours." he said as he walked over to the diagram blackboard. "Now you probably already saw yourself up here. The crossed out ones are the people who crossed me and paid the price. The circled ones are the people who we still need to find. And lastly the ones that have question marks are still unknown. " he said and paused to see if I was paying attention, which I was.

"So yes we have been looking for you for quite some time. Now you might be asking, well why. You are not just anybody, you are special and different then everyone else because of that gem of yours. And so with some help you can become so much more than you are now. All you need to do is join me and I will offer you a quest that will further test you and make the best version of you." Zikrab said as he looked at me for an answer. "Hmmm, if I were to join you what would I get out of it other than becoming better." I questioned. "You will get whatever you ask for. If you say yes you will join me, I will explain further more. Yet if you say no, then I will lead you back to your horse and you can be on your way and I will never bother you again. So what will you pick." he asked turning towards me awaiting an answer. After a minute of pure silence I responded "Okay fine I will join you, but you have to promise no more of those weird dragon tests." "Whatever your heart desires, which means I promise to keep that in mind." he said as he smiled.

"Alright now over there in that bucket is all your armor and weapons." Zikrab said as he pointed to a wooden bucket filled with my belongings. As I put on my armor and weapons, he explained the quest and that I had to seek out this one women that went to the local college. Also that as soon as I got to the city there would be an agent who would tell me where I would live for the whole quest. I also had to go to my designated house and change into college clothes, and attend the college. Luckily I am twenty years old, just perfect for college.
