When I woke up he was gone.

I sat up abruptly and looked around. I was in Gavin's bed. But where was Gavin? As my eyes adjusted to the darkness I glanced around the room. He was know where in sight.

I searched through the sheets for my cellphone. I'd try calling him, maybe he would answer. Unfortunately, my phone had decided to hop into the nearest black hole and was nowhere to be found.

I was about to seriously start having heart palpitations, I could just feel it. I was no good with stress.

Where was he and where was my stupid phone!?

I got up out of the bed and switched on his side table lamp. I had just knelt down on all fours and pulled up the covers to search beneath the bed when I heard the room door open.

In trudged Gavin, now fully clothed in fresh athletic wear, as though he hadn't been near death only hours before.

"This isn't what I expected."

"Gavin!" I popped my head up at the sound of his voice.  He had his hands on his hip and a dopey expression on his face.I rushed to his side and clutched his arm. "Are you okay? Feeling any better?" I pressed my hand to his forehead and felt to see if he was as hot as he was before. But he just felt warm. A normal kind of warm and that pleased me greatly.

He scrunched up his face and shrank away from my touch. "Why are you acting like this?"

Huh? My mouth dropped open slightly as I tried to register what he'd just said. "You don't remember what happened?"

"Remember what? You drugging me up and trying to waterboard me?"

I couldn't be hearing this right. "Drugging? Waterboard?" I'd been stressed out of my mind over this kid and that's all he had to say to me? I stood directly in front of him with my hands on my waist. "You had a crazy high fever and I was going to call an ambulance but I called Haley instead. It makes sense because her dad is a doctor and I had to get you hydrated and the Tylenol  that I gave you was just to get the fever down and why are you laughing at me?"

What had only been light chuckles quickly turned into loud guffaws. I might have been a bit delirious because I joined in too. I was wiping tears from my eyes before I knew it. "Where were you?"

He sniffled a bit and stuck a pointed finger in my direction, "First of all, I was woken up by your god awful snoring."

"I don't—""

"—Snore, I know. It was just because of the awkward way you were sleeping so chill out. I know you don't snore normally." He made an annoyed face at me before continuing, "Anyway, I had to put you in the bed in order to get any sleep."

"Wait, you mean we slept on the bed together?" I stared at him with widened eyes, my hands pressed to my cheeks.

"Don't worry you kept your hands to yourself."

Yep, everything was back to normal.

"But then my stomach was about to eat itself so I was going to go to Solaris when I remembered it was Thanksgiving. That means no meal plan and to make things worse I don't got shit to eat in this place."

I shook my head and clicked my tongue. "You've got to get it together at least once in your life, right?"

He smiled his puppy like smile and shook his head no.

As expected. "Luckily for you, Gavin, I am always prepared. Did you see my medical aid kit? It saved your life!"

"Remind me to write it a thank you note." He quipped as he shook his shoes from him feet and collapsed onto his bed like a log.
