Zeus was starting to really get on my bad side. Not that he hadn't managed to make it there already, but he was digging himself a pretty-deep hole. The sad part is, is that he'd actually make a good leader of it weren't for him being so obnoxious and detestable everytime he was ten feet away from me.
Here we were, in the middle of the zombie apocalypse being told what to do by someone who could care less about us. Though technically, he had to care enough to keep us in good condition for his "master", or leader, or whoever this big guy is. If it weren't for me being tied up, i'd show all these people who their real leader was.
Every now and then, Miles would give me a sympathetic look. All I could do was look back, because what else would I have to do?
As soon as we got to our destination, Miles and I went back to where we started, in a dark room, still bound up. Zeus told us he'd come for us when our time was near.
"Do you think they've hurt Izzy?" Miles questioned.
I looked at him, though I'm sure he could barely see my eyes.
"If they have, I'm going to kill them all off one by one."
Miles went quiet a moment before he spoke again. "What the hell have we gotten ourselves into?" He ranted.
"Look, Zeus said that if we cooperate, then we get Izzy back. That's all I care about right now, okay?" I bellowed, my voice cracking at the emotion of it all.
"Dorie." Miles called.
I ignored him.
"Dorian." He called again.
Still ignoring him, I turned to face the wall to my right. There wasn't really much to look at, either. I heard a scuffling noise coming from the floor and felt something fall into my crossed legs.
It was Miles putting his head into my lap. He tried calling for me one last time. "Dorian. Answer me, please." He begged.
I looked down into his pleading eyes, and without words, I kissed him. Seconds after, he began to kiss me back, his kisses hungry.
Boy, did I need that kiss.
I ached terribly to touch his face. But I couldn't. Pulling away from the kiss, Miles sank his head back into my lap, sighing loudly.
"Dorie if I could take it back, we would have stayed at the house like you wanted. I never meant-"
"Miles. Don't. Please." I began.
A clap suddenly broke in the room. Both our heads looked up to see the crusty Zeus. He continued to clap, and smiled dubiously. "Wow. That kiss deserves an oscar. And sweet, sweet Miles, so passionate and caring towards his little girlfriend. Bravo, really." He announced.
"When did you get in here?" Miles hissed.
"Whoa.Whoa. Lover boy, let's calm down there. Unfortunately, this is the part where you two have to be separated for our little deal to begin." Zeus commented.
"What? No. I'm not letting her go alone." Miles protested.
"I'm sure she can speak for herself." Zeus replied blandly.
Both heads turned to me. I immediately thought about my little sister. All I wanted was for this to be over. Thought once they let us go, if they let us go of course, we'd still be in the apocalypse. Technically, we were safer here than we were outside. That didn't mean that I trusted anyone in this building. I looked back at Miles before I looked to Zeus.
"I'll go." I agreed.
"Dorian, please. Think about this. There's another way to get Izzy, I'm sure." Miles sputtered.
"Sadly, there isn't." Zeus remarked.
"Don't you know to speak when you're spoken to? Shut your freaking mouth!" Miles spat angrily at Zeus.
"Miles, please don't be upset. I need to get Izzy. Please." I whimpered.
That made him stop short. He buried his face in my lower stomach. Putting my bound wrists on his head and rubbing his head, I attempted to comfort him.
"I just can't lose you, Dorie. I can't." He spoke into my stomach, his voice muffled by my clothing.
"Everything will be okay in the end. If It's not okay, it's not the end." I stated one of my favorite quotes, still stroking his head.
That seemed to be enough, because Miles sat up to kiss me once more, before nodding his head.
Zeus helped me up and untied the rope around my ankles, to let me walk. Taking one last glance at Miles and smiling faintly before leaving the room. I whispered an "I love you.",Hoping that would make him at ease. And from the smile on his face before the door closed him into darkness, it did.
"You're really good at that." Zeus said.
Zeus was walking in front of me, leading me in the brightly lit hallways. It was actually so bright that my eyes began to water. All around there was just white walls, bright lights, and the average room from left to right.
"What do you mean?" I inquired.
"Pretending."
