Deciding to leave Ezra behind was more of Carson's decision more than it was mine. They had something together that I wasn't really filled in on. For a moment, I considered the fact that they could be brothers.
Just for a moment.
I sat in silence, listening to Miles's and Carson's argument, watching each number on the elevator wall light up as we got higher.
"How the hell could you just let him go like that?" Miles shot towards Carson.
"What could I do? It's not like he'd listen if I told him to stay!" Carson fired back.
"But you could have atleast had the balls to stop him. Obviously you doing that was asking too much though, right?" Miles said sarcastically.
"Like how you let Zeus take Dorie, right? From what I know, you didn't exactly protest much, Mr. Bigshot. She could have died. Like how you let them snatch up Izzy too? Anything could be happening to her right now and you're concerned about my decisions? How about you worry about your own, and i'll worry about mine, okay?"
"Stop it! Would the both of you just knock it off? What just happened is in the past now. Everything you both are talking about is now in the past! We need to be more worried about what's prone to happen in the next minute!" I shouted.
The elevator went into an eerie silence as the elevator stopped on the last floor. I felt myself holding my breath in my lungs as the door opened.
Another white room came into view. The room had white walls with a brown wooden tile laid down on for decor. There was a wooden desk sitting flat in the middle of the floor to compliment the walls. The desk had papers thrown everywhere, as if they also got caught within the frenzy.
"Lets go" Miles whispered so low it was barely audible. He crouched down low, walking as if he were a duck and slid behind the large desk for cover. Carson looked at me, signaling me to go.
"No, you go ahead." I said.
He lingered for a while longer, crouched.
"Go!" I hissed.
He jumped a bit, fixing his glasses and proceeding to do the same thing Miles had done, making it safely behind the desk.
Miles waved his hand frantically at me, rushing me over. I rolled over to behind the desk, which felt crowded though there was only three fairly average bodies behind it.
"So what now?" Carson asked lowly.
"We find Hans." Miles said.
"Don't you think we need a plan to do that Captain-O-Captain? I mean look around. This isn't some crappy highschool security system."
"Carson!" I hissed a him again.
"What? I'm just stating the obvious."
Miles was glaring sternly at Carson as if he was a few moments away from ripping out his throat. He let out a small quick sigh.
"Here's the plan: Don't look, but there's a camera in the corner of the room by the elevator doors. I'm not sure if it caught us, because it hasn't moved an inch yet, but if it did, they're most likely plotting how to close us in this room. Now to my left, right in front of this desk, there's a door. Hopefully it doesn't require some type of high tech key to enter, which I don't think it does becuse it just looks like a regular door."
"How do we know they're not waiting for us behind the door?" I questioned.
He looked at me sincerly and pursed his lips. "I guess that just means we have to take our chances, babygirl."
