Why can't it be?

Chapter Four

Abala silang magkakaibigan sa pageensayo para sa nalalapit nilang foundation program. Naatasan sila ng kanilang principal na si Mrs. Carreon na magbigay ng isang song number. Kasalukuyan silang nasa loob ng music room.

"Okay we're done girls.  I think we are ready for tomorrow's show." Maple said.

"Hell yeah!" Nikki agreed. "We're really that amazing ever since. If you like we can add a dance number as well." She then suggested while grinning.

"No freaking way!" Yarra shouted. "Kung gusto mo ikaw na lang magisa, wag mo na kaming idamay pa ni Maple." Dugtong pa nito habang inililigpit ang mga drum sticks na ginamit.

"Hmmmp! Mga KJ talaga kayo!" Balik na sagot ulit ni Nikki.

Totoo naman na magaling silang kumanta at tumugtog. Para silang isang banda pero hindi naman talaga. Pare-pareho silang mahilig tumugtog ng mga instruments. Siya ay sa guitar, si Nikki sa keyboards at sa drums naman si Yara. Kaya madalas silang isali ng mga guro kapag may mga school shows.

"Hindi kami KJ, di lang talaga kami mahilig magpapansin gaya mo!" Pangaasar ni Yara.

"Excuse me! Di ako nagpapapansin noh! Di ko na kailangan gawin yun. Those men do everything to get my attention and not the other way around." Pagmamalaki ni Nikki.

"Except for your dearest Deckard!" Yarra said while sticking her tongue out towards Nikki.

Napasimangot naman ang isa dahil sa sinabi nito. Tinamaan ata ito. Totoo naman kasi na sa lahat ng mga lalaki ay tanging ang childhood crush nito na si Deckard ang deadma sa beauty nito. Kaya lahat ng bagay ay ginagawa nito mapansin lang siya bilang isang babae at hindi bilang nakakabatang kapatid nito.

"Tama na nga yan! Baka mamaya magkapikunan pa kayong dalawa dyan eh." Saway naman ni Maple.

"Di ka na nasanay sa aming dalawa. Mga baliw lang." Sagot ni Yara habang natatawa sa pangaasar kay Nikki na ikinatawa din nung isa.

Hanggang sa nagtawanan na din silang tatlo habang naghaharutan. She turns her head when someone caught her eyes. There she saw her teacher thru the glass window waving at her. She immediately walked towards the door to meet him.

"For you." He said while handing over a paper bag to her. When she opened it, she saw burgers and fries inside.

She looked at him with a questioning look in her eyes.

"I'm sure you haven't eaten yet because your all too busy in practicing." He said.

"Ahmm thank you po Engr." She said, giving him a sweet smile.

"Don't mention it. Go share that with your friends." He said while glancing at her back.

She bet that both her friends were raising there eyebrow at her back.

"Sure i will. Thanks again for these." She said and wave his hand to him as he walked away there.

When she return inside the room, she saw both of them grinning and of course raising their eyebrow! Hah! I was right! She said at the back of her mind.

"What?!" She asked while she puts down the paper bag on the floor and sat down as she takes out whats inside.

"What was that all about?" Nikki asked as she seats beside her. "Spill it out!" She snorted.

"You need to tell us everything! After your date and that library experience, you both seem become closer. Hmmm?? You and him?? Are you two..." Yarra didn't finished what she was about to say when i cut her off.

"No we are not! It's not what you think it is. Yes you can say we became close after that library incident and also that dinner treat because we are now... Friends." Even myself wished it was more than that! So pathetic! "That's all i have to share. Nothing more." She said while taking a first bite on her burger. Yum!

"Really? We know that you like him so why not be in a relationship with him?" Nikki asked as she took two burgers and gave one to Yara who was also looking at me while waiting for my answer.

"Ahmm Y-Yes I do like him, very much. But i'm not sure if I can tell him about it." She said while looking down the floor.

"Yes you can! Just tell him how you feel about him. Who knows if both of you shares the same feelings? Right?" Nikki said as she turns to Yarra who's staring at me with a worried look on her face.

"What if he's not? Pano kung wala siyang nararamdaman para kay Maple?" Tanong ni Yarra na ikinabahala niya. "Baka magkaproblema lang pag nalaman niya ang totoo. Baka iwasan ka pa niya." Dugtong pa nito.

No! I don't want that to happen. I don't want him to stay away from me. I will not let him!  She said to silently said to herself.

"Well she can make him change his mind." Nikki said that made me looked at her. "How far can you go for him to stay with you?" She asked seriously.

"I-I don't know!" I answered. Still confused at what she asked me.

"Are you ready to do anything for him? Let's just say if he don't feel the same way towards you, would you easily let it go or would you do something to change his mind?" She asked sounded like she's challenging me.

Would i really give up on him that easy if that happens? Would i really bear to lose him? Ahhh! I CAN'T! Damn!

"Yes! I can do anything! Anything for him." She said with determination in her voice.

"Good. So better start moving." Nikki said while taking a bite on her burger.

"I hope it will turn out okay." Yarra said. "I just don't want to see you hurt that's all. I already saw a friend of mine get hurt because of her feelings towards a guy." She continued while glances at Nikki.

Para kay Nikki ang sinabi nito dahil minsan nang umiyak ito sa kanilang dalawa dahil kay Deckard.

Nikki smiled sadly. "Hindi mangyayari yun kay Maple. Because I can see that Mr. Hayes has feelings for her."

"Yeah! I saw it too in his eyes when he looked at you. Iba ang tingin na ibinibigay niya sayo kesa sa amin at sa iba pang mga girls. I even caught him staring at you many times." Yara added.

Dahil sa sinabi ng mga kaibigan ay parang lalo siya nagkalakas ng loob na magtapat dito ng tunay niyang nararamdaman.

"So are you ready?" Tanong ng dalawa.

"Am I?" She also asked back. "I'm not sure. But I have to. " she smiled hesitantly.

Can she really tell him? What will be his reaction if she confesses to him?? She wish he can reciprocate her feelings for him. If he will then she would be really happy but if not, then she will make him. She'll do anything and that's a promise!

"I guess falling in love with your teacher is really complicated." She murmured to herself.
