Hindi alam ni Maple kung paano aakto sa harap ng ama ni Mallory. Masama ang tingin na ibinibigay nito sa kanila, lalo na sa kanya.

Alam niya na siya ang sinisisi nito kaya nagkakagulo sila ngayon. Nasira ang plano nitong sapilitang ikasal ang dalawa.

Hindi siya papayag na matuloy ang kasal ngayon pa na alam niyang mahal siya ni Russ at magkakaanak na sila. She'll stay beside him and fight with him.

"What is the meaning of this? Why is this woman here?" Tukoy nito sa kanya.

"She's a guest here Papa." Sagot ni Mallory.

"I don't care if she's a guest, I want her out of here. I don't want to see this woman who is ruining my plan." Galit na sabi nito at biglang humarap sa kanya. "Get out of here! You marriage wrecker woman!"

Nasaktan siya sa sinabi nito at napaatras siya sa lakas ng pagkakasigaw nito sa kanya. Pero mahigpit siyang hinawakan ni Russ at hinila sa may likuran nito.

"You don't have the right to talk to her like that! I have a respect on you because I treated you like my second father but I will not let you talk to her like that and call her names that was so uncalled for." Pagtatanggol sa kanya.

"This is my property and I have the right to say whatever I want!"

"Papa please just stop will you?! The wedding is off and there is nothing you can do about it. Just let them be happy. I wanted to be happy to. I wanted to be free from your control. You control everything in my life including my heart and I am tired of it." Pagmamakaawa ni Mallory sa ama.

"I just wanted what's best for you. And you think that I was being too much? What is wrong when all I wanted was for your life to be perfect huh?"

"I don't want to have a perfect life Papa. I just wanted to live a simple and happy life with the man I will choose to love."

"Huh?! Where can you find a man who can give you the things you deserved? You are an Esquivel, people will just use you because of your name. They will take advantage of what you have for their own interests. That is why I wanted you to marry a man who's name and wealth are in the same level as ours because for sure he will not use you. I don't want to see you get hurt my dear!

"But I am now... because of you... because of your decisions I feel like I can't barely breathe anymore. I love you Papa' but please stop doing this before i'll hate you forever."

The old man looked hurt by what Mallory has said but his fierceness and powerful aura still remains. "I already made a decision and that is final! You will marry Hayes or else, i'll do everything I can in my power to destroy both of them. You know me dear... Se eu disser que vou fazer, eu vou fazer isso!" (If I say i'll do it, i'm gonna do it!)

Then someone clears his throat. "I'm so sorry to interrupt in your family discussion but I think Mallory forgot her manners to introduce me to you sir." Gage said who was half smirking.

"And who are you?"

"I'm Gregory Edmund Morris, Mallory's boyfriend." He then smiled at Mallory and took her hand and holds it.

"Morris? Is it the owner of Morris hospital chain or the Morris pharmaceutical company?"

"Well both companies are from our family, but I'm running the pharmaceutical company and my twin brother is the one handling the hospital chain."

Lahat sila ay natahimik, kung sila ay nagulat dahil sa ginawang pakikisali ni Gage sa gulo ay pagkamangha naman ang nakikita nila sa matandang Esquivel. Parang nasiyahan ito sa sinabi ng lalaki.
