Why can't it be?

Chapter Seven

"So that was your plan huh?" Narinig niyang tanong ni Nikki sa kanya pagpasok pa lang niya ng classroom.

She just smiled and sit beside her.

"Sana nga lang ma-gets yun ni Sir." Sabat naman ni Yara.

"Oo nga." Sang-ayon naman ni Nikki.

She just shrug her shoulders and makes herself busy by reading some notes. She  wished for the same thing. Let's keep our fingers crossed. She mutter to herself.

After a couple of minutes, he entered the class and greeted everyone.

"Good morning!" He said.

"Good morning sir." They answered in unison.

"Is everyone ready for a surprise quiz today?" He asked by glancing at everyone except her. His eyes went passed her like she was not there inside the class.

She was surprised with the way he treated her. Is it because of what i did last week? Did he just rejected my feelings towards him?? She kept asking herself those questions. She was distracted that resulted to not getting a perfect result in his surprised quiz.

Arghhh! Fuck! What's happening to me? I thought everything will turn out alright after my big revelation of feelings, but how come it turns out negative? Worst of all, I think he's treating me like i don't exist anymore. What am I gonna do? Should I talk to him? What will I say?? Arghhh! Sh*t!!  She keeps on talking to herself and was not paying attention to class which was about to end.

Nang tapikin siya ni Yara ay saka lamang siya natauhan. Halos lahat ng mga kaklase nila ay nagsipag-labasan na ng classroom.

"What's the matter with you?" Nikki asked her, she sounded concerned.

"I think Mr. Hayes did not like what I did last time. He acted like he doesn't see me at all." She said.

"If you like to clear things out then go ask him. Baka di naman niya kasi na-gets yung ginawa mo? It would be better if you go ask him about it." Yarra suggested.

She needs to talk to him and set things right as early as possible.

Maple decided to wait for him at the parking lot. They really need to talk.
It's already half past six in the evening when she saw him walking towards his car.

"Hey Engr., ahmm.. C-Can we talk?" She asked nervously.

"What are we going to talk about?" He asked with coldness in his voice.

"Is there a problem? I-I mean, do we... Do we have a problem?" She asked, staring at his cold eyes.

He shook his head before answering. "There is none. And why would you think that we have a problem?"

"You're acting differently. I just feel like you are avoiding me. Why? May nagawa ba ako?"

"I'm not avoiding you nor acting differently. Kung anu-ano lang ang iniisip mo. Better focus on your studies, I was disappointed with your score this morning." He said, disappointment was written in his face.

"I'm sorry, I was kind of distracted." She answered.

He nodded. "Just do your best next time."

"Okay." She answered. She shyly glanced at him. "I hope everything is alright between us."

"We're okay." He said then smiled that makes her heart flutter. This time there's no coldness in his brown eyes. Like he's the same as he was before.
