"Oh my God yessssss!" I tease while watching Zach pose while trying out Snapchat filters on him. (My favorite so far is the cat filter with the tail and choker). Zach laughs with me when he sees the picture and then snatches it from me.

"Damn, I would be a hot chick," which makes me explode in giggles. "Alright strike a pose Devs, act like the whole world is watching and you don't care!"

Yes, you heard that correctly...Zachary Marning called me Devs. And yes I did tell him only my friends can call me that, but let's just say a lot can change in two hours. For example, the whole way I look at Zach has changed. He's not the arrogant jerk I thought he was. In fact, he's just the opposite. Fun, weird, in a good way of course, and really real. Haha, really real...okay back to what's important. What I mean by really real is that he doesn't sugar coat how he feels and makes it clear when he's uncomfortable or wants to change the subject (like with his mom). I like that about him. He can call me Devs because he's proven himself worthy of being my friend (not trying to sound conceited or anything).

I do the stereotypical "duck face" and throw up a peace sign and Zach busts out laughing.

"What? I'm that bad?" I ask and he turns to show me the phone. He chose the face distortion filter and when I pursed my lips it gave me a triple chin and grapefruit cheeks. I can't even think of anything as bad to compare it with other than this:

Exactly. Something too ugly to be allowed to be seen on the face of this Earth. I'm sorry you had to witness this but I had to make my point.

Anyway, I grab the phone from him and delete it before he can post it anywhere.

"I can't believe you even took that picture. I mean, have you no shame boy?" I say and that's when I notice the the several message notifications on the top of the screen. What the heck?

I click on them to find a bunch of texts from my mom, from her "all caps angry tone" to her "so panicked she forgets to use proper Grammer". Oops.

As I scan through the messages I ask Zach, "hey, how long have we been in here?"

"Uh...like 3 hours, why?"

I look at him like he's lost his mind...he probably has.

"Three hours! The youth event probably ended like 40 minutes ago! My mom's texting me begging for me to answer and let her know I wasn't kidnapped! That's why!" I scold and practically sprint out the door and down the stairs.

As I'm heading down the second flight of stairs, I here Zach's footsteps behind me.

"Please don't be pissed mom," I pray as I round the corner to the main. Seating area. There I find Zach's godmother, Grace, the youth Pastor, and my livid mother, standing around a table.

I flinch when she spots me and gives her best "your in so much trouble I will break you if you even breath" glare, and head her way.

Before I'm even halfway there Grace exclaims, "Zach!" And starts walking toward him with such purpose I can almost imagine his terrified face.

And then I realize my mom has redirected her glare to Zach. Ooh, not a good sign.

Before I even make it to the table my mom starts walking towards me and then thinks better of it and turns back to the Pastor. "I'm sorry Adam, this will never happen again. Right, Devyn?" She raises an eyebrow, daring me to say otherwise.

"Yeah it won't, sorry Pastor Adam," I say.

My mom gives him another apologetic smile before turning on her heel and walking out the door.

Umm...is that my cue to follow her?

Like the scared little girl I am, I speed walk to catch up with her, but not before catching a glimpse of Zach being quietly scolded by Grace. He catches my eye as I'm walking out the door he catches my eye, smiles, and when Grace looks away, he winks.

I smile all the way into the car - seatbelt on and everything - before being sobered by my mom's cold despondency.

This is gonna be a long night.

Hey everyone!

I know it's been like a week and you're all probably thinking "wait, that's it?!" So I would like to put it out there that no, that's not it. This wasn't going to be a part 1, part 2 chapter but I decided it should be so I could give you something now and not have to wait like another day. I recently got the Wattpad app on my phone so I was writing this chapter at school, home, and even as I was hanging out with my friends! Anyway I hoped you enjoyed it and I've already started the next chapter and I'm gonna try and publish it within the next couple of days. I am in school now and let me tell you AP Human Geography for a 9th grader is no joke and neither is it's homework and it literally pained me to do it when I really just wanted to write about Zach and Devyn.

Geez that was a lot to type on a phone keyboard ;).

Until next time,
