"Oh my God!" Cries Amalia.

"Whoah dude! This is crazy!" Shouts Grayson, Jamaican accent as thick as ever.

They all rush past me as I just stand there in the doorway, hands on my hips, grinning like a lunatic.

The roar that almost drowned out our voices with the doors closed is deafening with them open.

Before me is one of the biggest school "rooms" in all of South Florida. It's a dance studio, auditorium, and gymnasium in one.

Velvet seats that match the doors, similar to those in a theater, surround the doorway which is against the back wall, climbing it row by row. The entrance is covered in a dark red carpet and lined with VIP ropes and decorated with school merch for the occasion.

On the opposite side of the room is a huge Broadway stage that is only visibly distinguished as otherwise by the three foot wide runway attached at the middle that stops in the center of the room. Surrounding the runway is wooden flooring, like that of a high school gym, only with a shadowy black tint. Bright, production lights line the ceiling in various patterns and shine in even more various patterns of different colors and at random yet perfectly timed intervals over the stage and seats that also encompass the left and right walls.

It is packed with cheering students all hyped for what is about to begin. I might just stand there all day if someone didn't remind me to do otherwise.

Large hands land on my shoulders from behind me and soft lips find their way to my left ear.

"As entertaining as it is to watch you stand here successfully putting the Joker to shame, I'd rather you come and help me enjoy this pretty cool surprise," Whispers Zach, his breath tickling my skin.

I nod robotically and without fully processing what just happened, I allow him to lead me down the red carpet.

I didn't think it was possible but once we come to the end of the carpet and the seats of screaming students are behind us, the noise became even louder, consuming my thoughts overwhelming my ears.

My eyes go in and out of focus as I take it all in. You'd think after three years I would be used to all this confined energy. Guess not.

Somehow Zach manages to navigate the many people in the ailes and catch us up to the rest of the group.

We have to climb up some stairs like those at a stadium and eventually find our seats that aren't too bad. We're facing directly in front of the stage, where all the best action will be. I look on either side of me and chuckle at all the newbies faces. That was me once and I have no doubt I looked just as ridiculous.

"So...What's supposed to happen now?" I roll my eyes at Zach's impatience and shush him, pointing the big screens on wall on either side of the stage that is displaying a one minute countdown.

He makes a "oh" sound which only earns another eye roll from me.

Once the countdown hits 20 everyone is chanting the numbers, including me.

"Five!"

"Four!"

"Three!"

"Two!"

And before we can even yell one and lose hold of our horses, everything shuts down.

The lights turn off, the screens go blank, and the music stops, sounding like domeone just switched off a vacuum.

My smile turns into a smirk at the confused silence coming from my group. Others shout in anticipation.

"Uh...Devyn?" My goodness Zach.
