By Colten Ellis

Heartlessness has devoured
This lonely soul of mine
Every waking moment
I dream of life anew
Why must I travel
Down this road of uncaring
Letting those that love me
Yell and shed those tears
While I watch with cold eyes
My heart speaks to me
Through those dreams I have
Telling me that I was meant
To be more than I appear
In every thought I have
No one exists anymore
Even when bodies are walking
It is me and me alone
Upon this earth I live
No one shall be seen
As another human being
By this heartless soul of mine
For I am selfish
And only taking things for me
I could not care for you
Even if I had wanted to
For there is no one I've seen
That can make me shed a tear
So I shall plea for this year
To the gods that are high
Please let me care
For I have caused suffering
And a shout I hear
From somewhere nearby
If you're praying
To the gods above
About being so uncaring
And wishing to change
Then you must surely care
About something that
You simply don't see
That ring you imagine
On the finger so lonely
Must be a sign for you
To follow your heart
No matter what happens now
Never look back upon
Your lonely life
And think about the hurt
That you have caused
For there will always be more
Only you can learn
How to stop yourself
From hurting due to others
Saying how uncaring
You have become
So I took that shout
As a message from all
The gods and goddesses
That ever existed
Telling me to live
The life I want
And not to worry about
These thoughts I have
For they will disappear
In the same year
That I meet you
For I love you dear
Even if I haven't
Met you yet
