I sat on the bench playing with Pabu while the Fire Ferrets practiced. They all took each other out, and ended up on the floor laughing.
"It's been great having you at so many back to back practices, Korra," Mako said after he stood up.
"Feels good to be back. Although, Tarrlok isn't too happy about my leave of absence."
"You joined the Fire Ferrets before you joined his task force," Bolin added.
"Alright, team huddle time," Mako instructed as they all gathered in a huddle. "It's our first match of the tournament tonight. I know the three of us haven't been a team for very long, but even so, the Fire Ferrets have never been this good. Are we ready?"
"We're ready!"
"Not quite." I looked up from where Pabu was in my lap to see that Asami was now in the room, holding up a piece of clothing. "You'll need these," she said, showing off the shirt.
"Hey Asami," Mako greeted, walking over to her.
"Good morning, Sweetie."
"These new uniforms look great."
"You look great, Champ," she said before she and Mako started rubbing their noses together, making Korra send a gagging face in my direction.
"Well teammates, I'll see you before the match tonight. Asami and I have a lunch date."
"Okay, we'll see you guys later," Bolin said, waving goodbye.
Korra walked over to her bag and slung it over her shoulder. "I gotta go back to the temple to train with Tenzin. You coming with, Jaya?"
I shook my head. "I'm gonna spend some time with my dad."
"Alright, see you later."
"What are you and your dad gonna do?" Bolin asked as he took his practice gear off.
I shrugged. "He's working today so I'll probably just end up hanging out the restaurant for awhile. You wanna come with?"
"Ugh, you know I want to, but I have to go home and clean up the apartment before Mako gets home. He's been nagging me about it for weeks. Rain check?"
I nodded. "Sure."

My Aunt Anjala set the bowl of rice down on the table in front of me, then sat in the seat across the small table.
"So."
I frowned in confusion. "So?"
"What's going on with you?"
"What do you mean?"
"Oh come on, Jaya. I know something's up. I've been practically a second mother to you. I know when something's going on."
I shrugged as I swallowed some rice. "It's no big deal."
"Doesn't matter. Tell me. Are you worried I'll tell your dad? Cause I won't."
"I'm not worried about that. I'm just- I don't know."
"Jaya, I'm not gonna judge."
I sighed. "I'm just really confused right now."
"About what?"
I groaned at the thought of having to say it. "Boys."
"Tell me everything."
