"So, Jaya, you wanna hang out later?" Bolin asked me after he and the other Ferrets were done training.
I shook my head. "I have to go visit my dad today. You're welcome to come with, though."
"To meet the guy who taught everything you know in bending? You bet I'll come with."
_____
"Dad, this is Bolin. Bolin, this is my dad, Ren."
"It's an honor to meet you, sir. Jaya is an amazing earthbender."
"Trust me, I know. It's nice to meet you too, Bolin."
"Have you gotten any letters from Mom lately?" I asked as walked over to the couch and sat down.
"Yep. The last one I got said that she'll be home at the end of the month."
"Where's your mom?" Bolin asked as he sat down next to me.
"I'm not sure where exactly, but she's been traveling the Earth Kingdom ever since I was young. She'll come home every couple months and stay for awhile before going off and traveling again. I guess that's just what happens when your mom is the leader of the Kyoshi Warriors."
"Oh, Jaya, Tarou came by looking for you a couple days ago. Said he needed to talk to you," Dad told me.
"Great," I said sarcastically.
"Who's Tarou?" Bolin asked.
"My boyfriend."
"You have a boyfriend?"
"Yep," I sighed.
Dad grabbed his jacket off the rack. "I have to go help Aunt Anjala at the restaurant, sweetie. I'll be back later today if you wanna go out for dinner with your old man."
"Sounds great."
"Alright, you and your friend have fun," Dad said before he went out the door.
"I didn't know you were with somebody," Bolin said in a disappointed tone once my father was gone.
I sighed. "It's complicated, Bolin."
"How long have you been with him?"
"We've been dating since I was sixteen, so almost three years."
"You've been in a relationship for two years. How is that complicated?"
"It just is, Bo. I don't know what else to tell you."
______
"Good! Light on your feet!"
"Nice job, Korra," I said once she finished the airbending training exercise.
"Ooh, he's cute. Korra, is that the handsome firebending boy that drives you crazy?" Jinora asked when she saw Mako walking up the stairs in our direction.
"Does he drive you crazy in a bad way? Or does he drive you crazy like you like him?" Ikki asked before she and her sister were launched away by Korra's earthbending.
"Oh, hey, Mako," Korra said, trying to sound chill.
"Have you two seen Bolin?" He asked.
"Nice to see you too," I said, monotone. "And no, I haven't seen him since earlier today when he was at my house after practice. Think something's wrong?"
"I don't know. Bolin has a knack for getting himself into stupid situations. See you later."
"Wait! Let me help you look for him."
