Chanyeol regained consciousness in a bright place.

There was no sign of that dragon...the academy dragon that had completely destroyed the Universe Academy without a second thought. His entire body felt heavy, and he wondered if he was dead, but then he saw it.

The dragon, that horrid dragon, landed in front of him, his landing shaking the ground

The dragon, that horrid dragon, landed in front of him, his landing shaking the ground. Chanyeol whimpered, the weight of his body keeping him tied down as the dragon tilted its huge head to look at him. It had foul eyes tainted with greed and dark energy; its wings were battle-worn and angry scars slashed across the expanse of the beast's chest. Chanyeol supposed that the only reason he was alive was that the beast was after anyone else remaining from the academy. His tongue failed him when he tried to speak, so he just kept groveling at the feet of the huge dragon.

"Quiet little dragon. The effects will wear off soon. But for now, just try and keep still. You don't want to be in any more pain than you already are."

Baekhyun was beginning to worry. Chanyeol hadn't come back for over half the day. There was no sign of that horrid purple fog but there was also no trace of the small dragon. Yifan was going to go on patrol later with Jongin, but it would be hard to track Chanyeol unless he had landed. Scents didn't linger in the air. Minseok was currently out scenting the local surrounding, hopefully trying to see if Chanyeol had found a place to land that he could be tracked, but so far, there was no hope. It was as if Chanyeol had just vanished into thin air.

"It's quite possible he flew ahead to your parents' place." Yixing murmured as he kept Baek company at the mouth of the cave. Sehun was nearby, leaning on Luhan as the two heated up some water for more herb soup later.

Baekhyun supposed that he should feel relieved at the notion, but he couldn't help but feel wrong

Baekhyun supposed that he should feel relieved at the notion, but he couldn't help but feel wrong. It wasn't just the guilt that was eating him up. It was a worry like he would lose Chanyeol forever.

Kyungsoo returned a little while later with an armful of herbs and a couple of small rodents.

"I wasn't able to find much on the mountain. It'll be a few days before we will deplete the limited resources available to us. I suggest we leave soon."

Baekhyun glared at the smaller man with so much venom that Kyungsoo was startled.

"We are not leaving without Chanyeol."

"Who lost him in the first place?" Kyungsoo calmly fired back

"Who lost him in the first place?" Kyungsoo calmly fired back.

"Kyungsoo, enough. Baekhyun already feels enough guilt for one lifetime." Yixing interjected, his huge horn waving in Kyungsoo's direction. It wasn't meant to be a threat, but Kyungsoo got the message.

"Fine. I'll be making dinner." he walked away to Sehun and Luhan.

Baekhyun dropped his head into his hands and groaned. Chanyeol...what if he never came back? What if he wasn't at Baek's parents' house?

"Overthinking won't bring him back. You know that." Yixing chided beside him and Baekhyun sighed.

"I know. But still, I have a bad feeling about this. And I know it's definitely all my fault."
