tw: a tiny bit of homophobia but it's only slight.
also, this will be sorta in murdoc's pov as the other chapters were in 2D's pov aside from a part in one of the chapters prior to this

Murdoc paced back and forth, hands behind his back. It had been an hour since he'd arrived and he was worried. Why hadn't they said anything? 2D could be dead and he wouldn't know. He walked up to the reception desk. Sat behind it was a plump lady with short hair and glasses. "Excuse me, do you know the condition of a lad called Stuart Pot?" he asked.
She looked up and Murdoc was slightly taken aback at the cold look she gave him. "And your relationship to him would be...?" she questioned, tapping her pen on the surface in front of her. "Uh, well. We're dating, so I guess I'm his... boyfriend. Yeah, boyfriend," he said, surprised at how easily the word rolled off of his tongue.
She looked slightly disgusted, but picked the phone up. "Do you know which floor he'd be on?" she asked. Murdoc sniffed to keep himself from crying. "Um, maybe the one for cancer patients?" he said and she nodded. "I'm surprised he's not with the AIDS patients, since he's a faggot," she mumbled.
Murdoc flinched. 2D was right: it did hurt. "What the hell is your problem?" he hissed, and she looked up. "What ever are you talking about?" she inquired innocently, batting her lashes. "Oh my Satan, you're such an idiot. You don't go around using homophobic slurs. It's 2016, not 1916. I'm so sorry you're stuck in the year you were born, but times have changed. Now, is my boyfriend okay, or do I have to go up there and check on him myself?"
She huffed and dialed a number. "I need the condition of a... Stuart Pot. Yes... and no. Thank you." She put the phone down just as a doctor opened the door. "You must be Murdoc." The doctor spoke with a voice that sounded rather annoyed. "Yes, and? Is Stuart okay?" Murdoc asked urgently and the doctor nodded. "I was just about to come and retrieve you. Stuart has been asking for you."
The bassist sighed in relief, placing his hand on his chest. His heart was beating rather quickly.
He was led up to sixth floor and gasped at the overwhelming scent of death and medicine. It was mixed with a rather faint scent of roses. In all, the smell was enough to make someone gag.
"Mr. Niccals, Stuart's condition is worse than we thought," the doctor said as they turned down a corridor. "Wait, what do you mean, 'worse than you thought'?" Murdoc asked, putting air quotes around the last bit. "I mean, he may not last as long as we'd hoped."
At that moment, Murdoc's heart flipped and broke. "How... how long does he have left?" he asked and the doctor shrugged. "There's no way of knowing," he said. "But hey." They stopped at a room labelled 627. "You can go on in. He was awake the last time I saw him, so he may or may not be awake now."
Murdoc nodded and twisted the handle on the door, walking in and shutting the door softly behind him. 2D was awake, and grinned when he saw the bassist. Murdoc pulled a chair next to the bed and sat down, then grabbed one of the bluenette's hands in both of his.
"How're you feelin'?" he asked and 2D shrugged. "Well, m'dyin', so perfec'! Wait, sorry. M'alrigh' 'side from the fact tha' we didn' ge' t' finish the show. And tha' nobody liked Stop The Dams." He frowned and Murdoc brought his hands to his lips, letting them linger for a second. "I'm sure they loved it. They were most likely shocked at the fact that we actually played it live. An' don't worry about the show. They were warned. Yeah, it might've been sudden, but they were given a warning as they bought their tickets," he said softly and 2D nodded, using his free hand to adjust the tube in his nose.
