oOo

2D stood in front of the mirror, grimacing at his thin and sickly appearance. He didn't want to look like this; it made him feel weak and he didn't want to feel weak. His chest ached and he felt dizzy, so he poured four pain killers into his hand. Maybe they would help with his dizziness. He was alone. He had his own dressing room and he was alone. He didn't want to be alone, yet he was.

He sat down on the sofa and rested his feet on the table. There was at least an hour and a half before the show would begin, and he was extremely nervous. He didn't want people to be suspicious and he knew for a fact that they would because the O2's website said that the show could end early. Also, his appearance and a meet and greet would make concert-goers slightly more suspicious. They'd ask questions, and he'd have to lie. Say he's perfectly fine. That he's just a bit ill, which would only be a small lie. He wouldn't just outright say, 'Oh hey, I'm going to die and Gorillaz will be no more.'. No, that's rude and he's not that dumb. Besides, there was already a plan in place. Murdoc would say that he's gotten old and he'd be retiring. Then he'd say how the band would be no more because, 'It's my band!"

2D smiled at the thought. He remembered being in this exact same venue, years ago. Damon and the live band took over and Murdoc got so angry. He took it out on 2D as soon as he could, but now it was different. The band was back together. But I'm going to die, he thought, and the happy memories turned into sad ones.

There was a knock at the door and Stuart blinked. "Who is it?" he asked and heard the person clear their throat. "Stu, it's me," the voice said and 2D recognised it as Murdoc's voice. "Come in!" he said and the door opened. The bassist was wearing a leather jacket over a black shirt with jeans and his cuban-heeled boots. He closed the door behind him and sat next to the singer, who leaned into him and crossed his arms. "Muds, I can' believe m'sayin' this, bu' m'nervous. Wha' if somefink 'appens t'me?"

Murdoc rubbed 2D's arm soothingly. "If anything does, you'll be taken care of. You still- you still have five months left, so I doubt anything serious is going to happen," he said, sounding like he would cry at any moment. Then he did. He cried into 2D's shoulder, his tears soaking the fabric of the latter's shirt. "Mu'doc, please stop crying. Like you said, I'll be fine. If I start t'feel strange, I'll signal t' you. Like this."

Murdoc looked up and watched as the singer whistled and tapped on his chest three times. "See. Three times. If I do tha', then somefink is wrong. I'll be sitting down, so it shouldn' 'appen. I'm singin' easy songs tha' shouldn' take a lot of breath. I'll be fine, alrigh'?"

Murdoc nodded and wrapped his arms around 2D. "I love you Dullard. Even if your lungs suck," he said, causing 2D to laugh. The bassist kissed the bluenette on the cheek and 2D let out a small laugh. "Ya missed," he said and kissed Murdoc on the lips, letting his own linger for a bit. "You're so damn cheesy that it's not funny." 2D shrugged. "Who cares?"

A few moments later, there was a knock on the door, causing 2D to practically jump away from Murdoc. "2D, it's Noodle. Show starts in fifteen minutes, so you and Murdoc better hurry up with whatever you're doing."

2D's cheeks began to heat up and Murdoc suppressed a laugh. "Okay!" he said and the bassist bursted out laughing, causing Noodle to start giggling. "It's not funny!" he exclaimed, cheeks turning more red. Noodle's footsteps faded away and the bluenette hit Murdoc with a pillow. The latter glared at him, but bit his lip to keep from laughing.

The two walked out of the room and towards the stage. Murdoc grabbed his bass and the both of them put their earpieces in. "Ready?" Murdoc asked and 2D nodded. "Yeh, I fink so. Yes. M'ready." He kissed Murdoc's cheek, but Murdoc grabbed his head and placed his lips on the singer's own. "Good luck," he said and they walked out onto the stage.
