“Who do you work for?” Nora screamed at the man while punching him on the stomach. She knew that this wasn’t the most efficient method to have some answers but she was mad, very very mad. The man whimpered.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about”
“Lies!” She punched him once more. Nora stopped for a moment and backed away while closing her eyes and took a deep breath her patience almost gone “Try asking nicely” a little voice said in the back of her head.
She turned, looking at the man “Please, she...she... wasn’t even my family but she was starting to feel as it. Everything I have, everything I had has been torn apart from me” Nora was speaking the truth and she couldn’t handle the emotions over flowing her, because, all of it, was indeed true and now slowly the tears rolled down her cheeks...silent tears.
“You might never understand it because you might have a family, people who love you and cherish you deeply but please I beg you to please help me here. I won’t kill you because if I do I would become just like her...” At this point Nora gave up. She was about to retrieve the dagger that hold the man on the air when he finally spoke, barely a whisper...
“The Queen”
Those simple words just made her mood from a sad one to one that made her blood boil in her veins. She took out the dagger out of the three’s trunk and sprinted towards the house without looking back at the man. That’s all she needed to know but the hard thing now “How am I even going to tell them?” just the thought frightened her deeply but she somehow needed to say it, she HAD to. When she arrived to the front door she stopped and mentally prepared herself, taking deep breaths while looking down at her mud covered boots. When she was about to open the door it opened from the inside revealing a terribly worried Tristan.
“Where’s Wendy?” He asked in a rush but just at the mention of it made her look at the floor once more not being able to answer. She never thought about Tristan’s reaction but the tears were already building up in her eyes and she couldn’t control the weak and trembling voice she answered with...
“She...was takeaway” Nora said, barely a whisper. She did not dare to meet his gaze because she was afraid of what she might come across.
“What?” Tristan asked in disbelief
“I- I was off for a walk in the early morning, the sun was barely out and-and I didn’t notice she was following me and out of a sudden a man took her. I was going after her when men surrounded me, I did take them down and then went after her but it was already too late. The last time I saw her she was riding a horse with the man keeping her captive down the valley”
At that point Nora let her tears fall. She wrapped her arms around herself, to at least hold on to something and fell to her knees while crying harder, rocking her trembling body.
“I did everything I could” She finally said closing her eyes tightly not wanting to see Tristan’s reaction. After a while, crying on her spot. She felt a pair of hands touch her on both sides of her shoulders and when she looked up Tristan was kneeled on front of her with silent tears on his eyes. She hated to feel this way, to feel this weak and useless. She never let her emotions over take her but since she got here things seemed to change.
“The Queen, she send those men” At the mention of the Queen, Tristan expression changed dramatically, as if he was lost in thought. He stayed like that for what it seemed like an eternity but then changed into a mad expression and stood up and went back inside the house. Nora was clueless but went after him.
“Tristan, what are you doing?” In his room he revealed a loose wood board on the floor and from out of it took a sword.
“What does it look like? I’m going after my sister” He said those words as he adjusted the strap around his shoulder and went out to the door but she stopped him before he could go any farther
“No. You are not thinking. That woman wants me. She just wants a way where I can just give myself to her”
“What? Are you-?”
“Before you jump into conclusions mister hear me out. That woman for some reason, which is unknown to me, wants me okay? She wants to make my life miserable. She has taken everything away from me and because of her I have nothing left, nothing” Nora had did lie but mostly, it was the truth “She has my friend. My one and only friend who was captured by her men and deep inside I know he still lives”
“And what if not? What makes you so sure of that?”
“Because I have faith, Tristan. People are suffering of her injustices” Nora took a step closer to him
“Like Wendy and your friend?”
“Yes...” She suddenly noticed how close the both of them and took a step back and went to the front door. Tristan took her by the wrist and made her turn around, the simple touch of his left a tingly sensation on her skin which she couldn’t quite explain.
“I’m going after them”
“Then count me in”
“No it’s too dangerous; I don’t want you to get killed. Is me who she wants not you”
“Does it looks like I care...”Now he was smirking which made Nora feel uneasy. She breathed out.
“Of course you don’t” She rolled her eyes and headed towards the door. Nora looked back to the inside where Tristan still stood “Are you coming or not?”
