Chapter 8

The girl at the village

The next two days passed quite slow to say the least and at the mere sight of a small village upon the horizon made everyone’s mood cheer up. But still this whole trip was pointless, on Peter’s opinion, because the purpose of it was still unknown to him, yet he did craved for some adventure in his life not that didn’t have none but still, he enjoyed the company of the girl.

“Ahh such a lovely sight!” Tristan exclaimed behind Nora

“Indeed it is” She added.

They arrived to the small village just when the sun was up on its highest point, letting them now it was midday. It wasn’t hard to find the village’s inn; after all, it was a small town. They left their horses at the inn’s stables and paid the stable boy for their horses to be well taken care off. They took their things and went inside the place. It was quite empty to say the least, only a few men we’re seated around talking to each other. Nora went ahead and took a seat in one of the tables, which Tristan and Peter followed behind. A waitress soon came to attend them.

“Good afternoon. What may I get for you lads...and lass?”

“A fine meal accompanied by some ale for the three of us” Nora answered. The woman, who seemed to be around her late forties, smiled a little before nodding and heading the same way she came. Nora roamed her eyes along the place; it wasn’t big yet, not too small. It had a warm feeling to it and it was rather relaxing for her.

“I hope that they have available rooms for each of us. I can’t wait to rest my back in something comfortable” Tristan said.

“I hope they do so, no, they better have” Peter smirked “But anyways, what is the whole point of this? I hope that you didn’t bring me along just for nothing” As he said that the waitress came with the tray that carried their meals with a big stein full of ale for the three of them and placed one of each on front of them.

“May I get you anything else?”

“Yes, do you have available rooms we could stay for the night?” Nora asked the good woman, she nodded.

“How many?” The woman simply asked.

“Three, please.”

“Okay just go to my husband who is at the bar and he’ll help you, after you finish your meal” And with one last warm smile the woman left the table to attend another guest who just had entered.

“Peter, you better than anyone knows that I wouldn’t do that. But the reason is-” Her sentence was interrupted by the burning pain on her palm, completely shutting her up. She felt as if her flesh was slowly burning, so she couldn’t speak further, the seal wouldn’t let her. Peter kept looking at her, waiting for an answer.
