Chapter 7
The Journey Begins
The night came too fast for Peter and soon it would be the time to re-unite with his old friend at the forest. He saddled his horse and checked twice the supplies he carried for the trip. Nora never told him where they were going or the reasons but he trusted her though he knew it had to do something with his mother. Despite the fact that the Queen was her mother he disliked her so. He didn’t liked how he treated her people, she was mostly hypocrite seeming to be nice and polite when she really was the devil itself but he couldn’t complain because she had gave him a life full of riches and goods.
When everything seemed to be in complete order Peter mounted his black stallion and trotted quietly out of the castle. He did it in time when the soldiers changed shifts so he was passed unnoticed. He did bring a second horse with him but cursed when he remembered Nora’s companion, Tristan.
Oh, the simple fact that maybe that man had to do something with his friend made him feel mad because well it’s simple really. When he remembered being a 12 year old boy while she was 3 years younger than him, he had a mayor liking on the girl. Since forever the girl’s beauty has been undeniably out of this world but now that time has had a mayor effect on her. She had grown to be a stunning beautiful young woman with her fiery red hair, Oh! How can he forget the uncountable freckles on her face or her delicate and soft looking skin? Or those piercing blue eyes that seemed to look deep into your soul with just one glance. Though she brought him here and was asking for help and not just to see him. All this years, with her absence, Peter had searched refuge in other women’s arms trying to satisfy his need, his pain and forget about her but it all seemed useless.
Peter ordered the horses to go on faster phase now that he was deeper in the forest and away of the hearing range of the soldiers. Soon enough, the two familiar shadows illuminated by the moon came to view.
“What took you so long?” Nora asked with a little bit of humour in her voice.
“I had to wait for the soldiers to change shifts to get out of the palace; it’s easier said than done” He handed Nora the reigns of the spare horse. She mounted the stallion and made herself somehow comfortable in the hard leather seat. She motioned to Tristan to follow suit. The question that came next, the same question she had been asking herself over and over again without having any luck on been answered.
“So...Were to now?” Tristan asked behind her. For a moment she looked up to the skies, praying for an answer. A gust of wind coming from the south suddenly flew pass by with force making the tall standing trees groan and swing. Under her leather glove she felt her seal, not burn, but somehow flicker, like a spark and that’s when she knew they had to travel south.
“South we go”
~.~.~
So they went on, travelling for hours. It was noon by now. Every now and then someone would make a comment or so but for most of the time everything was silent except for the forest’s natural sounds. The horses we’re strong and fitting for the task they we’re chosen, Peter did well by choosing them, but still they we’re starting to get tired and not only the horses but them as well.
