While Jennifer was in the bathroom Colin looked around her room curiously. He didn't want to sit down on her bed - he didn't want people to sit on his bed either - and since there was no other place to sit he kept standing.
There was a big bookshelf that almost covered an entire wall. He wondered if she'd read it all. Was that even possible? He didn't see a desk but he'd seen a big study room downstairs so he figured she did her homework there.
'Ehem.' Jennifer cleared her throat.
'Oh hey Jen... iffer.' He jumped.
It was that feeling when you walk out of a store without buying something and feel like you need to act innocent. Something like that. It probably didn't make sense. Did his thoughts ever make sense? Probably not.
'Jen.' She smiled.
'I- I'm sorry.'
'No it's fine. I like it.' She laughed. 'You can sit on my bed.'
'Ah thanks.' He smiled. 'I wasn't sure-'
'Are you really that nervous or do you always... you know, stutter?'
'I- I'm sorry I just...'
'It's okay I was just wondering.' She smiled.
Colin looked down at her hand that had at some point found it's way to his knee. When she realized she quickly pulled away.
For the next couple of weeks nothing really changed. Jennifer had gone to Colin's house a few times and she'd met Allen, Jennifer was still trying to understand how they could look so different.
'Is she your girlfriend?' Allen had asked Colin.
'No she's just... a friend.' For now he'd thought because Colin had developed a crush over the past weeks. He had a crush on Jennifer Marie Morrison and he had tried to deny it but it was getting more and more difficult. He almost couldn't bare being around her anymore.
He felt like there were only two options left, maybe three. 1. Tell her and deal with the consequences (her hating him for sure) 2. Try to find a way to avoid her (but how could he?) 3. Die (maybe a little dramatic).
He figured he should go with the first option so he called her.
'Hey Col!' She answered cheerfully.
'Jen-'
