'Jen.' Colin said seriously on the other of the phone. 'I need to tell you something.'
'Uh okay, go ahead.' She answered not really knowing what to expect.
'I'm just gonna say it.' He says. 'Right now.'
'Okay.' Jennifer chuckled.
'The thing is...' He starts. 'I've got uhm... damn this is harder than I thought.'
Jennifer stayed silent, waiting for him to continue.
'I'm in- no. I've got a crush.' He states.
'Ooh... on who? No wait let me guess! It's uhm... Helen?'
'What? No! Not her. Much prettier.'
'Right. It's Sarah?'
'No.'
'Anna?'
'Nope.
'Venice?'
'No!'
'Daniel?'
'What? No offense but I'm not gay.'
'Uh... Lilly?'
'Jen for gods sake it's you!'
'Oh.'
'Yeah.'
'Well uhm... I thought we were just friends.'
'We were... we are.'
'I mean I- I really like you, Colin. It's just I'm not really looking for a relationship I mean I'm-'
'I get it.' He interrupts her. 'I'm just not sure if I can handle being 'just friends' I mean we could try but I just-'
'Well I'll see you around. Not as 'just friends' but as acquaintances I suppose... I don't know.'
'See ya.'
Call ended.

A week.
That's how long the whole 'not just friends, just acquaintances' thing lasted. In fact Jennifer was the one who couldn't handle it. She sent him a text.

Miss you.

Miss you more.

Not sure that's possible.

I'm pretty sure it is. Wanna come over?

I'll be there in 15.

It was Sunday morning. Jennifer was surprised by how much she'd missed him. She wasn't sure if she liked him like that too. Maybe.

She got dressed (she spent most Sunday's in her pajamas) quickly brushed her hair and left. Only 10 minutes later Colin heard a knock on his door.
Jennifer, always early.
'Jen.' He said breathing heavily from running down the stairs.
'Hey.' She smiled. She felt the sudden urge to kiss him. His smile was so bright and he looked so happy to see her.
'Missed you.' He smiles before wrapping his arms around her. He simply couldn't help himself. Friends hugged right? He didn't really care because she was hugging him back tightly and they'd both needed it.
'Missed you the most.' She mumbled into his neck.

So I was wondering if you guys mind the short chapters? I could try and make them longer but that would also mean I'll update less often... so it's up to you guys! 🧡
