Hurt

Ursula stood there, speechless. The one person she had been looking for, for almost six decades, has rejected her. Paul's heart broke at the sight of hurt that flashed across Ursula's face. But there was nothing he could do now. He had rejected the imprint. He left before saying/doing anything stupid.

"Carlisle, I'm worried," Esme said. "It's been a day, and we haven't heard anything from Ursula."

The whole family searched for her for hours until Carlisle called it off. Jasper continued to hunt for his sister.

"It'll be alright Esme. She'll come home when she's ready." Carlisle said, trying to comfort his wife.

"If I could just see where she went, this would be so much easier!" Alice said in frustration.

"I should've went after her," Emmett said, wringing his hands. "If I had gone after her...."

"Emmett, this isn't your fault. Don't blame yourself." Rosalie said.

"Carlisle!"

Said vampires' head snapped towards the door to see Jasper walking through the door, carrying an catatonic Ursula in his arms. Jasper layed her on the couch, worry plastered on his features.

"I found her near the treaty line. I tried getting her to respond, but she won't say anything."

Carlisle rushed over to his daughter.

"Ursula, can you hear me?" He asked, trying to assess her condition.

Ursula said nothing. Only stairing off into space. Esme rushed over, putting her hands Ursula's face.

"Ursula, sweetie, you need to talk to us. Ursula!"

Ursula finally looked at Esme. Tears that would never fall, welling up in her eyes. Esme hugged her daughter tight.

After Edward came back from Florida, he knew something was wrong. The house was usually quiet. Even for a house full of vampires. He walked through the door, and noticed that Ursula was lying on the couch with her head in Rosalie's lap.

"Welcome home, Edward." Ursula said, without even looking up.

The last time he had seen his sister, she'd been angry at him for being with Bella. But now seeing her quiet, and docile, worried him. He walked over, and placed a kiss on her head before walking up to Carlisle's office.

"Carlisle, what happened?"

Carlisle gave the short version, excluding the chase.

"Has Ursula said anything? Did she say what happened?" Edward asked, worried for his younger sister.

"No. We've tried everything. She's in a catatonic state. She'll only move if we tell her to, or if we carry her."

Using his power, Edward went through Ursula's thoughts.

'Edward. It's been a while.'

'Enchantress. Do you know what happened to Ursula? Carlisle said she won't talk to anyone.'

The sorceress snorted.

'Not only can I tell you, I can show you.'

Edward watched through Enchantress' memories. Analyzing the events of the chase with Victoria. When Enchantress got to Ursula's most recent memory, she warned him that it wasn't something he'd be too happy about.

Ursula was standing at the treaty line. Talking about her portion of the treaty, and her punishment. As they were closing the deal, a wolf sounded off in the distance. Jacob and a wolf Sam didn't recognize bolted off towards the sound.

"You should go. The treaty can wait." Ursula said.

Sam disappeared into the trees.

'Now, this is the part I warned you about.' -Enchantress

Edward watched his sister turn to the last remaining pack member.

"Aren't you gonna follow him?" She asked.

But the wolf did nothing. He stepped forward, looking like he gonna say something.

"I, Paul Lahote, hereby reject you as my imprint."

Edward collapsed to the ground gasping.

"I know what happened." He growled.

He sped down the stairs, and knelt beside Ursula.

"Hey, Ursa," He said, using an old nickname. "Do you feel like going for a walk?"

She shook her head.

"Are you sure? I can talk about what I saw in Florida. You don't have to talk. We don't even have to go for a walk. We can just sit outside."

"Okay." She said in a quiet voice.

She sat up, and and looked at Rosalie. She wanted to say something, but settled for giving her big sister a hug.

Rosalie hugged her sister with all her might. Even though they were the same age, Rosalie was the big sister that Ursula never had, but always wanted. Ursula followed Edward outside, and sat down on the first step. He told her all about the sights he saw while he was down in Florida.

After he was done, he asked the one question he knew he needed to ask.

"Ursula, I know you don't want to, but can you tell me what happened?"

Ursula shook her head.

"I know you don't want to talk about it, but you need to. We can't help you, if you don't talk about it."

Ursula stood up, shaking her head.

"No. You'll hurt him."

The other Cullens that were in the house, tried not to listen in, but ended up doing so. They were devastated when Ursula started defending the one that hurt her.

"Why are you defending him?" Edward asked.

"I don't know!," Ursula shouted. "I can't help that he imprinted on me! I half to live with the choice he maid, and there's nothing anyone can do about it! I don't care if he hurts me!"
