Carlisle was in the process of hunting a large buck, when Alice broke through the trees. In his predatory mind, he snarled in warning.

"Ursula's awake."

Hearing those two words, snapped Carlisle out of the feeding frenzy.

"Where are the others?" He asked.

"Heading to the house."

The two took off. Weaving through the trees, at the fastest pace they could go. Carlisle's relationship with Ursula was more special than his relationship with the the other 'kids'. Ursula reminded him so much of the woman who cared for him after his mother died. The way she cared for others, and saw right through their issues, was something he knew the world sorely needed.

When the others reached the house, they were greeted by the sight of Ursula sitting in the living room with a blanket wrapped around her, and holding a mug of what seemed to be coffee. Esme stepped forward.

Ursula looked up, giving the Cullens a reason to gasp. Instead of the usual gold-speckled emerald they were used to, they were greeted by a sparkling shade of light blue. Almost ice-like in color. She seemed uneasy at the 'sight' of the others.

"Rose?" Ursula called out.

Rosalie walked over from the kitchen, wiping her hands on a towel.

"It's okay, Ursula. It's just the others."

"Where's Emmett?" Ursula asked.

"He went to get some food. He'll be back." Rosalie said.

"Oh."

Ursula brought her cup up to her lips. Relishing in the feeling of the warm liquid going down her throat.

........

When Emmett got back, Rosalie took the others into the kitchen so they could talk.

"What happened?" Esme asked.

"I don't know. I went in to change her clothes, when she woke up. It took me a while to calm her down enough to check on her. That's not the weird part." Rosalie said.

"What could be weirder than her being 'asleep' for a few days?" Edward asked.

"I can't see," Ursula said, from the other room. "I may be blind, but I still have my vampire hearing."

They returned to the living room. Ursula was standing in front of a a window, 'looking' out of it.

"When I was 'sleeping' or in a trance, whatever you want to call it, I was surrounded by darkness. I couldn't hear, I couldn't see. I could only feel. It was cold. Some time went by, with nothing happening. Then, as if a switch was flipped, I 'woke up'. All but one of my senses came back. I don't know what happened, or why. What I do know, is I'm stuck like this. Indefinitely."

......
