Walking down the street as I struggled to hold on to these heavy bags once again I heard someone calling me this time I heard my name.
"Scarlett Elizabeth Prince!" Stopping in my tracks with my back facing the sound of the voice, I couldn't help but smile, quickly recognizing the voice that spoke my name.
"Noah's ark." I replied my back still towards him
Letting out a low chuckle Noah say. "You're funny."
Shrugging I replied. "You never told me your last name."
Grabbing for my bag of groceries Noah says. "You're right I didn't."
"So, you're not going to tell me- and I don't need your help caring my bags."
"If I told you, I'd have to hurt you and I'd hate to hurt something as gorgeous as you...."
Quickly turning my head to hide the fact that I was smiling from ear to ear once again. Noah asked. "Is that a smile I see?"With my face still in the opposite direction tucking my curls that rested on my chocolate skin behind my ear I replied. "Maybe."
"And I know you don't need my help, but I'd like to help you anyways."
"Huh?" I asked turning my face to him.
"You said you didn't need my help."'
Rolling my chocolate brown eyes, I said. "Oh right."
"Can I at least walk you home, you shouldn't be walking home alone at this time of night."
Rolling my eyes once more I replied. "I suppose."
Kindly handing me my bags Noah and I both started walking, at first it was completely quiet but that was quickly interrupted by my outburst.
"You know what, you can stop right here."
Lifting his eyebrow Noah asked. "What- why?"
"No, I'm going to walk you home!" Noah continued.
"Let's just walk the other way then!"
Pointing ahead Noah asked. "Are they the reason you want to go the other way?"
Fidgeting at the sight of the Black mamba, the Black mamba's are something like a gang, or at least that's what they call themselves now. They started off as really nice people who said they could help us but once they got into power they started dictating everything, they said they would help make not only our neighborhoods, but our city safer for us, but what they did was the complete opposite they destroyed us, some would even say they're the reason this city is so racist, others would say there was racism far before they ever came, everyone just kept it to them self and I agree, but the Black mamba's made it worst. Their hate for anyone that was of color amplified the hatred that already exist. Which is kind of ironic since their name has the word black in it. Looking back there was absolutely nothing wrong with our neighborhood, heck there wasn't anything wrong with our city until the Black mamba's came flashing their money's around promising us lies, lies that got us so cut off from the rest of the country it's sick!
"Yes, now let's go the other way!"
"Scarlett Elizabeth Prince, we are not going to go the other way, your ice cream will melt!"
"Well I rather have melted ice cream than get jumped, let's just go to your house, mama can wait."
Looking me dead in the eyes Noah says. "Nothing's going to happen to you while you're with me."
Gripping his arm, I held on super tight, so tight that you could see my hand print on his arm, saying I was scared was an understatement.
You could tell Noah was enjoying this, not that I was afraid but that I was holding him. I think Noah likes me but I'm not too sure, it's just the way he looks at me and the way he cares I know I've only known him for what a week or two, but I think he's my soul mate, I think he's the one.
