Chapter 43: Bang Bang

Getting up I ran as fast as I could across the barn floor reaching the door I stopped by a knelt down Ms. Alessandro I know Noah wanted me to run and not to look back, but I just couldn't leave without doing one last thing. Picking my leg up I kneed Ms. Alessandro in her nose as hard as I could sending her head flying back as blood splatted everywhere.

Looking back, I yelled. "RUN!"

Not waiting for Noah, I take off running out the door that led to a dark cold forest, with no one around for miles. For a moment I hesitated on which way to go, knowing I was running out of time and that someone would be after me soon, I quickly decided to go left. But as I ran I started to hear a sound and it started to get louder and louder it took me a while to identify the noise, it was footsteps, and they were stepping on leaves, the sound of leaves crunching behind me made me run a little faster. Suddenly the noise gets closer and closer and I start to get scared I was all out of breath and I couldn't run any longer. Giving into my fate I shut my eyes tight, if I was going to die I didn't want to see it happening.

"Scarlett?" the voice called.

My eyes get a little bit tighter as my heart ran a thousand and one miles an hour. That was it, I was going to be murdered in some forest far far away from civilization.

"Scarlett it's okay it's me."

Opening my eyes, I see that it's Noah my face instantly softening. "We have to keep going, my mom's down but she's not out, as soon as she recuperates she's going to come after us, she's old but she's very persistent and won't stop till she gets what she wants!"

"But I'm tired!" I whined.

Noah rested his hand on my face as he ran his fingers through my curls with his other hand I could tell he was afraid, not just for himself but for both of us."I know but we have to keep going."

Nodding my head as both Noah's hands rested on my face I replied. "Yeah, okay."Noah kisses me on my forehead and then brings me in for a tight hug I could tell he didn't think we were going to get out of this forest alive just by the way his heart was beating up against mines, it was beating so fast and hard that for a moment I thought it was my heart beating that fast, instead of his.

"If something happens to us I just want you to know that I love you so much."

Shaking my head, I replied. "Don't do that don't say good bye now, we're going to make it out of here alive- both of us." Noah flashes me a close smile as he grabs my hand as tight as he could. We both take off running, but it wasn't until thirty minutes into the run that Noah heard the sound of cars moving across a grovel road.

Stopping Noah rested his hands on his sides as he caught his breath. Quickly snapping his head to the right Noah asked."What is that?"

Jumping closer to Noah I grab tight on his arm as I closed my eyes tight like before but this time I coward into Noah for protection. "Whats what?" I questioned.

"That sound- it sounds like tires against gravel." Listening to the sound once again Noah continues with."I think it is."

Passing me Sarah's gun Noah climbs the tree to see how close we were to the road. Climbing down the tree Noah says."We're not that far from the road, once we get there will be safe."

I nod my head, we quickly go back to running when not even five minutes into the run we hear heavy foots steps, followed by Noah's name being called. I'm not too sure which one but it was definitely a member of the black mambas.Quickly Noah pulls me into a blind spot where most people walking by wouldn't noticed.

"Scarlett, we don't have time for you to test me, just do what I say."

"Okay." I replied nodding my head.

"I'm going to let them think they found me, while you're going to run in the other direction towards the road, I want you to flag down the first car you see and call the police!"

"Noah, I'm not going to do that, I'm not leaving you!"

"Yes, you are, they don't want to hurt me, at least not directly, so I have to be the one they find." Noah explains.

"I'll be fine." Noah continued as he tried to give me a reassured close smile moments before he brought me in for another tight hug.

But he wasn't fooling anyone, I could still feel his heart beating out of his chest and the forced facial expression on his face wasn't at the lease bit convincing. "If you say so."

Noah gives another forced fake smile as he touched my face."After I run I want you to count to twenty and then run in the opposite direction."

"Okay."

"Twenty Scarlett, it's important that you remember." I nod my head.Positioning himself to climb out of the spot he had us in Noah takes one last look back at me bites his quivering lip and then takes a deep breath and then climbs out.

"One...two... three... four... five... six... seven... eight... nine... ten... eleven.... twelve... thirteen... fourteen... fifteen... sixteen... seventeen... eighteen... nineteen... twenty." I take a deep breath and just like Noah said I took off running in the opposite direction heading towards the street.

The road was cold and abandoned like no one had drove down it in years. I began to walk down the thin cold dirt road, my feet were tired, my shoes were all torn and I wanted to stop but I knew I couldn't, that wasn't a choice so I continued to walk. Suddenly turning the corner on the windy road, I see lights flashing straight in my eyes I immediately wave my hands in the air as I jumped up and down to get their attention, it wasn't until they got closer to me that I realized it was Keisha , Giselle, Yazmin and Mr. Alessandro.

Pulling the car over as far to the right as they could without falling off the road they immediately jumped out the car, Keisha offers me a blanket and the seat in the back of the police car.

"Where's Noah?" Mr. Alessandro questioned.

Sitting in the backseat with the door open as I played with a dirt with my feet as I held onto the cover that was wrapped around me extra tight taking a big gulp I look up and reply. "With them- they took him."

"Took him where?" Keisha asked.

Turning my head to face Keisha and then back to Giselle, Giselle shrugs her shoulders and says. "She's a cop."

Turning to face Keisha again I wiggle a little making myself comfortable as I use my left hand to brush my curls away from my face."I don't know."

Without a single word or any indication of what she was thinking Keisha walked over to the driver side of a police car and picks up the walkie-talkie, and calls for backup, giving them the directions to where we were at Keisha soon says her goodbyes and hangs up the walkie-talkie.

" Stay put, backup will be here shortly, and then we'll head up there." Keisha says as she walks around to the others and me.

In the midst of our silence we hear a round of gunshots that I know to be the area of where Noah should be at right about now. Snapping our heads up in unison, the others then quickly snap their heads towards me once they realize what that noise was.Almost like she knew me for more than five seconds Keisha quickly goes to grab for my arm, yanking my arm back I dropped my cover as I run in the direction of the gunshots.

"Scarlett NO!" Keisha screams but I didn't care I kept running as fast as my thick thighs could possibly move into the forest that Noah and I tried so hard to get out of.
