The girls are now in McDonalds, sat upstairs eating there meal. Lilly is telling Rebecca about her art project, Rebecca is listening but not taking it in.
"Sorry am I boring you Bec?"
"No. Sorry I just remembered I have a text to reply to.."
"Go ahead then! Is it Connor?" Lilly winks, Rebecca blushes.
"Yes actually!" She pulls her phone out of her coat pocket, and sends a quick text:
'Sounds great, will check with my dad when home'
"What you chatting about with him?" Lilly asks, being her nosy self.
"He asked if I want to go to his house tonight.."
"Oh right" Lilly says in an almost disappointed tone.
"Sorry Lil, I know we normally go to each other's houses after a day out..bu-"
"It's fine. Don't worry about it, I don't mind." She smiles.

As the bus pulls up to the bus stop at Redrigg Court the girls say good bye and head off in separate directions to there homes.
Rebecca walks up the road, and enters her house.
"I'm home!" She shouts through the house. Sam runs down the stair case.
"Hello honey, how was your day?"
"Really good thankyou!" Rebecca says with a massive grin on her face, "is it alright if I go to my friends house after tea at 7 tonight?"
"Yeah sure, which friend?"
"This boy called Connor, you've never met him.."
"Hm, how well do you know Connor?"
"Well I have met him twice, and I have his number an-"
"Do you think that's a good idea, going to someone's house you've hardly met?"
Rebecca opens her mouth about to answer, but Sam continues.
"He could be anyone and he coul-"
"He's really nice honestly Sam, I'm not stupid!"
"I know sweetie but you never know what people are like?"
"I won't know what people are like if you never let me go places with new people!" Rebecca exclaimed, the anger showing in her voice.
"I do so let you go to loads of places!" Sam says, feeling offended.
"Yes but I can't mix with new people because I'm always with the same group."
"Well that's not my fault I don't-"
"Excuse me? You just said I couldn't go to Connor's house, and now your saying it's my fault I don't mix with new people, how does that work?"
"I'm only trying to protect you!"
"Yes but some day I'm going to need to do my own thing, I can't keep on living in my own bubble, not meeting new people."
Sam looks down at her shiny, black shoes.
"Well, I suppose you could go."
Rebecca's eyes light up, and she hugs her step mother.
"Thankyou Sammy!"
"Be back by 11 though, okay?"
"Okay!" Rebecca smiles, and runs upstairs throws herself onto her bed and texts Connor:
'I can come, will see you at 7. What's your house number?'
Rebel totters into Rebecca's room and looks up to the girl lying on the bed.
"Hello Rebel!" Rebecca says leaning over, flinging her arms around his fluffy, brown and white neck. Rebel is a brown and white springer spaniel, he's quite playful and trusting even though for the first 7 years of his life he was treated badly.
Rebecca had 3 whole hours before she was going to Connors, so she decided to re-do her hair. At the minute it was in a high, messy pony tail.
"I can do a fish tail plait.." Rebecca mutters to herself.
She starts the plait, and she's half way through when Connor replies. She quickly finishes her plait, and picks up her phone to read the text:
'18 lamb lane, see u soon xxxx'
Her heart starts thudding, and she has butterflies in her stomach. 4 kisses. 4!
'Kk thanks, see u in a bit xx'
She turns her phone off and tosses it across the bed, she doesn't know what to do so looks for something to wear. At the moment she's wearing a plain white, strappy top with a knitted, blue cardigan and some denim shorts as it's warm outside.
She looks for something pretty, but not too dressy. She decides on a white crop top with the with the words 'Boom Shaka Laka' written across the front. She picks out some high waisted, acid wash, denim shorts to go with the top.
1 hour later Rebecca's dad shouts up to Rebecca that tea was ready, she bounds her way down the stairs and sits at the table.
