Canadian heart break (A Tom Hiddleston story)

*Tom*
I slump down on the couch. I just need a little break. Lately I get tired very fast. But I try to hide it, so I have to rest not to set of the alarm. Yeah I don't want to worry Kitty too much. I can see it in her eyes, she already worry for me all the time.

I need to go get a check up soon, yesterday the damn thing shocked me when I was playing with Athena. It hurt like hell, but I didn't want to scare her.

I hear the front door open. Kitty has been to pick up Athena at daycare. I can't help smiling when I hear her small excited voice. That little girl is my pride and joy. She always manage to get my spirits up no matter how down I am feeling.

She comes into the living-room and spots me on the couch and I hold out my arms hearing her squeal. "Tom, I have such a fun day".

"Athena no". I get a minor shock when Kitty screams at her, taking a couple of quick steps, grabbing Athena's arm. "I told you you couldn't get near Tom, why don't you ever listen ?"

I have never heard Kitty raise her voice like that towards Athena before, and the little girl looks mortified, her lip starting to tremble. I sit up. "What is wrong ? She just wanted to hug me".

"She can't, she can't get near you and I told her". Kitty seems close to panic, still holding Athena's arm tight. "She has a runny nose and she feels warm, she might have a fever. She can't get near you, what if you caught it".

Her words are breaking and she is letting out strangled sobs between them. She is clearly on the brink of breaking. Zac walks in at that moment, probably having heard her screaming. I look at Kitty. "Darling, let Athena go. She can go hug me no matter what".

"But.. but if she is contagious ?" She looks at me, but when I just waves my hand she lets Athena go and she runs to me.

I lift her up on my lap, hugging her, feeling how she is clinging to me, crying softly. "It's okay baby, mommy didn't mean to yell at you. She is just scared you know. Do you understand that ?"

She nods against my shoulder and quickly stops crying and I wave Zac over. "Now go with uncle Zac and play okay ? I need to talk to mom".

"Come here sweetie. You can choose what you want to play". Zac picks her up on his arm, and she throws his arms around his neck, as he carries her to her room.

I look at Kitty, who is standing in the middle of the floor, her shoulders slightly shaking. "Come here kitten". I say softly, holding out my arm to her.

She comes over and I pull her down on my lap, where she curls up. She snuggles her face into my neck. "I am so sorry I yelled at her. I am just so scared we are going to lose you. You are not doing good, I see you get out of breath. And the alarm have been going of a couple of times lately".

"Kitten it's okay. She will forget it before you know". I tell her softly, rubbing her arm. "And I am okay darling, I am not about to give up".

She snuggles closer. "I just love you so much and I don't want to lose you to a stupid cold. The doctor said you couldn't be near anyone sick".

"I love you too kitten. And I know he said that. But please don't keep Athena away from me, she keeps up my spirit". I whisper against her cheek.

She looks at me. "But you are not okay. We both know you are not. I can see in your eyes how tired you are. I see you get out of breath and Athena told me you got shocked yesterday when you played. Yeah she isn't stupid. She told me your heart had hurt you".

*Persephone*
I know that he don't do it to lie to me or keep things from me. He just want to protect me from anything that could hurt me and I love him for it. He looks at me. "Sorry darling. I am sure it is nothing. I just exerted myself to much".

"Just please be careful". I say kissing him softly. "We want to keep you with us. I need you to get healthy and that mens relaxing and taking care of yourself till a new heart shows up".

"I am careful kitten, but I can't stop living completely". He says as his hands cradle my face and he pulls me into a kiss. "If you knew how much my body longs for you".

I run my hands through his hair. "Believe me, you are not the only one missing that part. But that is just how it is now".

"Maybe you should find someone who could give you that too". He says, his head slumping a bit and his eyes closed.

I run my hands into his hair, pulling slightly, to make him look up at me. "Having you here is much more important. I don't care if we ever get to do that again, as long as I get to keep you".

He slowly runs his nose along the side of mine, humming softly. "I still don't know what I did to deserve having you in my life".

Right then Tom's phone goes of and he picks it up, having a brief conversation mostly with him saying yes and okay. When he hangs up he looks at me. "It was the hospital, I need to come in, they might have a heart".
