Canadian heart break (A Tom Hiddleston story)

Interrupted again

*Tom*
"Mom ?" We jump apart when we hear Athena come running. Damn, I adore that little girl, but right now I tend to wish her far away. So close, my lips had been only inch from hers and she hadn't pulled away, she had wanted me to kiss her.

She turns to look at her daughter. Disappointment vanishing from her face in an instant. "Good morning cuddles, did you sleep well ?"

"Yeah". She says smiling happily. "Swim mom, go swim ?" She ask, and Persephone smiles softly at her, nodding her head.

"Let's go change into swimming clothes then". She says, then she looks at me. "Would you like to join us in the pool when you are done here Tom ?"

I bite my lip. The idea of her in bathing clothes is rather enticing. "Sure, I will just finish up here and then go change".

They leave to get changed and I finish up as fast as I can. Then I hurry to my room, taking a shower. Yeah I know it seems a bit dumb as I am going to go swimming, but I don't want to risk smelling. Then I pull on my swimming shorts, looking at myself in the mirror. Will she be impressed ? Will she think me good enough ? Was this the one change that got wasted ?

I walk into the pool area, seeing them sit on the beach. Athena is wearing the cutest Rapunzel bathing suit. And her mother looks absolutely breathtaking in a black bikini. How can she think she don't look as good as 11 years ago ? She only looks better if you ask me.

*Persephone*
I look up and see Tom, my breath catching in my throat. Damn he looks good. He has the perfect body with those new muscles to be honest. "Hi Tom".

"Hi Kitty". He says softly, coming over and sitting down next to us. I feel my mouth go dry. We had been so close to kissing. What if that had been our one possibility ? What if that was it and now it would never happen ? Well no matter what nothing can happen with Athena here.

The next couple of hours we spend swimming and having fun in the pool. It almost feel like we are a family. And several times Tom lets his hand caress me, touch me. Nothing more than a fleeting stroke over my hip or on my arm. But it ignites me like had he been whispering heated words in my ear.

After we are dried up and changed into our clothes, we order a pizza and sit on the floor in front of the tv eating pizza and watching disney channel. Athena had demanded it and Tom makes her giggle and laugh when he changes his voice to try and sound like the figures on the tv.

"Time for you to get to bed little miss cuddles". I tell Athena, who is yawning her little head of. Her eyes are heavy and tired.

She looks up at me, then at Tom. "Can Loki put me to bed mommy ?"

"You know his name is Tom sweetie. I don't know". I look up at Tom who just smiles softly and nods, indicating that he has no problems doing it. "Okay then Tom can put you to bed".

She shakes her head. "No Loki, I want him to do Loki". She argues. Tom picks her up, talking to her the whole way in Loki's voice. Making my heart melt like ice on a summer's day.

I don't have the heart to tell him that she a real pain to get to sleep. Tyler has never been able to, it always ends with me taking over.

About 15 minutes later Tom comes walking down the stair and I get up. "That was faster than expected. But don't worry, she is always like that, even with her father. Just let me go handle her".

"Uhh". He looks at me in utter confusion. "Like what ? She is sound asleep. Went down like a log of wood".

"Seriously ? She is sleeping ? What did you do ? I mean I would be happy if I could get her to sleep this fast". I am staring at him.

He just smiles. "Yeah she is sleeping. Sorry I didn't know she wasn't supposed to. I just tucked her in and she told me a bit about her room and then I sang a song to her and she fell asleep.. by the way did you really do that amazing painting on her wall ?"

"Yeah, but it is nothing really. I looked at a picture and just blew it up in size on the wall". I say blushing slightly. She has a wall painting with all the superheroes and Loki of course.

He gently takes a hold of my chin, lifting my face to look at him. "It is something, it is beautiful and talented. You should be really proud".

"Thank you". I say softly. And there goes my heart into a frenzy again. His eyes sliding down to my lips. I know he is wondering if he should kiss me.

I almost scream in frustration as the front door opens and closes. And I catch Tom rolling his eyes in annoyance as he hears Tyler's voice call out. "Anybody home ?"
